This is a digital copy of a book that was preserved for generations on library shelves before it was carefully scanned by Google as part of a project
to make the world's books discoverable online.

It has survived long enough for the copyright to expire and the book to enter the public domain. A public domain book is one that was never subject
to copyright or whose legal copyright term has expired. Whether a book is in the public domain may vary country to country. Public domain books
are our gateways to the past, representing a wealth of history, culture and knowledge that's often difficult to discover.

Marks, notations and other marginalia present in the original volume will appear in this file - a reminder of this book's long journey from the
publisher to a library and finally to you.

Usage guidelines

Google is proud to partner with libraries to digitize public domain materials and make them widely accessible. Public domain books belong to the
public and we are merely their custodians. Nevertheless, this work is expensive, so in order to keep providing this resource, we have taken steps to
prevent abuse by commercial parties, including placing technical restrictions on automated querying.

We also ask that you:

+ Make non-commercial use of the files We designed Google Book Search for use by individuals, and we request that you use these files for
personal, non-commercial purposes.

+ Refrain from automated querying Do not send automated queries of any sort to Google's system: If you are conducting research on machine
translation, optical character recognition or other areas where access to a large amount of text is helpful, please contact us. We encourage the
use of public domain materials for these purposes and may be able to help.

+ Maintain attribution The Google "watermark" you see on each file is essential for informing people about this project and helping them find
additional materials through Google Book Search. Please do not remove it.

+ Keep it legal Whatever your use, remember that you are responsible for ensuring that what you are doing is legal. Do not assume that just
because we believe a book is in the public domain for users in the United States, that the work is also in the public domain for users in other
countries. Whether a book is still in copyright varies from country to country, and we can't offer guidance on whether any specific use of
any specific book is allowed. Please do not assume that a book's appearance in Google Book Search means it can be used in any manner
anywhere in the world. Copyright infringement liability can be quite severe.

About Google Book Search

Google's mission is to organize the world's information and to make it universally accessible and useful. Google Book Search helps readers
discover the world's books while helping authors and publishers reach new audiences. You can search through the full text of this book on the web

PREFACE

This is the fourteenth catalogue issued by the Fraternity
during the seventy-seven years of its existence. It contains the
names of the 10,425 members of the twenty-four active and six
inactive chapters from the foundation of the Fraternity in 1832
to the close of the academic year 1908-1909, including the names of
3,053 deceased members.

The book is much smaller than the general catalogue which
appeared ten years ago. It is more in the nature of an Alpha
Delta Phi directory and less a biographical index of the members
of the Fraternity. The object which the makers of this book
had in mind was a publication which would have a maximum of
usefulness and at the same time be sufficiently inexpensive to
meet with an extensive circulation. To this end the biographical
detail, the military, record and the kinship list of the 1899 edition
have been sacrificed. These data doubtless will be included in
another work to be undertaken by the Fraternity hereafter.

After the introductory matter, the full names and addresses
of all members of Alpha Delta Phi are given by chapters, which
are printed in the order of their establishment. Within the
chapter list, the names are given according to the sequence
of classes up to 1912. The members of that class and a num-
ber of others whose names were received at an hour too
late to allow inclusion in the body of the book, were placed
in the list of recent initiates put at the end of the roll of
chapters. The star has its usual significance, and the year of
death is indicated. In the geographical and alphabetical in-
dexes, which follow in that order the roll by chapters, a
dagger shows that the name so marked will be found in the
list of recent initiates. Additions and corrections, somewhat
numerous in the instances of the older chapters, are placed at
the end of the book and show the latest changes in address
of which the Secretary's office has information.

The officers of the Fraternity ask the active interest of all
members of Alpha Delta Phi in maintaining the card index from

which this catalogue was compiled, the accuracy of which was
attained through efficient assistance in the office of the Secretary.
Notices of deaths or of changes or of misstatements of address
should be sent to the Alpha Delta Phi, 136 West Forty-fourth
Street, New York City. By means of a revision of the card
index, carried on systematically week by week, future editions
of this catalogue can be published frequently and at a relatively
low cost.

Since July, 1907, the Fraternity has had its offices and head-
quarters at the Alpha Delta Phi Club of the City of New York,
a picture of which appears at the beginning of this volume.
The Executive Council holds its meetings at the Club and trans-
acts its business from it. Any member of the Fraternity whose
class has been graduated can be proposed for membership in
the organization. At the present time the roll of the club
includes about a thousand names, representing all the chapters.
It is an attractive modern clubhouse and provides a suitable
place where the graduates and undergraduates may be brought
into closer touch with one another and with the Fraternity.

The officers who have had to do with the getting out of
this catalogue are grateful to the several chapters and to in-
dividual members for such assistance as they have given in
supplying or correcting the great number of missing or defective
addresses.

Robert A. Gunn,
Secretary of the

Fraternity, 1904-1909.

Shepard a. Morgan,
Secretary of the

Fraternity, 1909 —

Carl R. Ganter,
Secretary of the

Executive Council, 1901 —

New York, July 1, 1909.
