William H. Tilson of Texarkana, Texas, was born in Washington
Co., Va., 1837; his boyhood days were spent on the farm. He grad-
uated at Mossy Creek College, East Tennessee, Jime 1, 1859, and mi-
grated to Texas the same year. He served in the Confederate army
in the war 1861-65; began the practice of law in 1865 at Boston, Bowie
Co., Tex. He has been Justice of Peace, County Attorney; a member
of the 13th Legislature of Texas in 1873. In 1879 was elected state
Senator of Texas for a term of four years. He was the Democratic
nominee. In his law practice he has been successful. He died Oct.
6, 1909.
