of upland, 31/4 acres meadow at North River.
Ply., Oct. 29, 1668.

In reference unto two barrells of tar taken by John Tilson out
of the house of Giles Rickard, sen'r, without order, found to belong
to Edward Gray. Court orders tar in hands of constable, to be re-
turned to Edward Gray, and John Tilson pay said Gray 8 shillings
for charges in taking the tar, and said tar be made merchantable by
said John Tilson. Ply., March 1, 1669-70.

In reference to presentment of John Tilson in breaking the King's
peace by striking Robert Ransom, the said Tilson is fined 3s. 4d.

The last will and testament of John Tilson of Scituate, late de-
ceased, exhibited at the court held at Plymouth, the 29th of October,
as it is contained in the testimoneys following:

I, John Andrews, aged about 28 years, do testify that John Tilson,
being sicke, I asked him how he would dispose of his land, and his
answer to me was that if he died without an heir that his brother
Ephraim Tilson's eldest son, Edmund Tilson, should enjoy his house
and land.

Taken upon oath this 30th day of October, 1673, before me.

I, Samuel Samson, aged 22 years, doe testify that I heard John
Tilson say that his brother Ephraim Tilson's son Edmund should
be his heire of his house and land and meddows.

The above names and dates were taken from the Proprietors' Rec-
ords of Taunton.

South meadows, Carver, Mass., were purchased of the Indians in
1664; lands were sold to settlers at shillings an acre.

Plymouth and Plympton Proprietors of Land. â– 
1701-2. Thirty acres were granted to Edmund Tiison.

In 1705 the proprietors granted to each of their number a twenty-
acre lot, and shortly after a sixty acre lot; and in the same year all
the Cedar swamps were divided into thirty-nine lots and distributed
by lot among the individual proprietors. The records contain a
description of the lots and assignments. Copies of the lands are in
the office of Register of Deeds at Plymouth.

Edmund Tiison was pronounced a qualified voter of Plympton in
1708-9.

At the aforesaid meeting held 21st of March, 1708-9, Edmund Til-
son and Samuel Bryant were chosen constables for ye town of Plymp-
ton for ye following 3'ear, and William Churchill was chosen highway-
man. Dr. John Carver and James Bryant were chosen survairs.

age 63 [gravestone]. William Sturtevant d. Aug. 28, 1753. Age
70 [gravestone]. Both are buried at Monponset cemetery, Halifax,
Mass.

26, 1726. He d. May 7, 1725; was a farmer; lived in South Hing-
ham, Mass. His will proved Dec. 7, 1725, says: To daus. Joanna
Tilson, Mary Cane, Deborah Ransom, Joel Wliiton, and Sarah Dun-
bar, £10 each ; he also gave to his sons.

Dr. Elisha Tilson practised medicine in the North Parish of
Bridgewater (now Brockton), and lived on the N. W. corner of
Spring and Main streets. The records show that he had been a com-
mittee of the North Parish in 1794-5-7. March 16, 1795, he was
Moderator of Precinct Meeting. In 1819 he was one of the petition-
ers to have the North Parish set off from Bridgewater. (In 1821 it
was incorporated North Bridgewater.) He became financially em-
barrassed. His settlement in Insolvency is dated Oct. 24, 1800. He
removed to Boston and d.

I find in registry of deeds, Suffolk County, the transfer of prop-
erty in 1793 by Nehemiah Tilson, a blacksmith, and his wife, Abi-
gail, of Foxboro, Norfolk County. Foxboro was taken from Suffolk
County in 1793.

Capt. Nehemiah Tilson built a large residence in Wrentham, where
he died May 25, 1846.

Mrs. Abigail Tilson, his widow, died June 26, 1852, age 84 years.
