In 1828, he settled in Erie, Penn., where he was a merchant for
many years. His health becoming impaired, he moved on to the
farm of his eldest son, in Elk Creek, Erie county, Penn., where
he soon after d , Dec. 9, 18-33. His widow d. in Erie, March 1, or
by second authority, Feb. 28, 1873. He was, say those who knew
him well, unassuming, a true Christian, aiFectionate and tender,
a good citizen, and irreproachable in character.

accompanied his father to Stockbridge, Mass., and to Black River,
Lorain county, Ohio, about 1820. He removed to Rockbridge
county, Va., and it is said, established the first woolen and cotton
factory in the Valley of Virginia; he d. there, April, 1867. He

. 566. DANIEL TOUSEY ' Clark« Daniel,^ b. in Newtown, Conn.,
Feb. 18, 1792 ; lived and d. in Charlestown (now Lorain), Lorain

county, Ohio. He m. Reid, sister of Conrad Reid, of that

place. He was a zealous Presbyterian, and a strict disciplinarian,
who whipped his children, and attended the Church with them
with great regularity. He was a Member of the Legislature moie

than once. ITe was a believer in Black River Harbor, and active
in the city-lot speculation in that place, from 1835 to 1838, bis
wife inheriting' an ample property there. The speculations v. ere
unfortunate. Some of his property, levied on by an odd mode of
collecting debts, after his death, on a judgment against his admin-
istrator, is now contested by his heirs. He died, it is said, al)Out
1847 or 1848.
