398. TRUMAN '' Amos * Ezra,=^ b. at East Granville, Mass.,
Sept. 27, 1780; graduated at Yale College in 1802; studied the-
ology, and licensed June, 1804, as a Congregational minister;
settled, September, 1807, in Charlotte, Vt. He m., September,
1808, Sarah Linsley, dau. Judge Linsley, of Cornwall, Vt., and
sister of Rev. Joel 11., D.D., of Greenwich, Conn. At the end of
seven years, he traveled west on horseback to what was then known
as the "Military Tract," in New York. For thirteen years from
1815, he was settled at Pompey, East Hollow, Onondaga county,
N.Y. In 1829, he entered the third new tield, at Cicero, in the
same county. His health became poor, and he resigned ; and after-
ward spent six years at three other Churches, at East Aurora,
Darien Centre and Somerset, all in New York. He then, with
two daughters, opened an Acadehi}- at Middleport, Niagara county,

X. Y. lie gave this up from feeble health, and in 1845 returned
to Cicero, where he remained twenty years. His wife d. July 27,
18G2; he, July 27, 1865.

May 6, 1753. A brief sketch of him appears in the second volume
of the "New Haven Colony Historical Society Papers," and my
sketch is from that, from Waterbury Records, and family letters.
He was a surgeon or surgeon's mate in the Revolution. He settled
in Waterbury as a physician, where he m., in 1782, Sarah Leaven-
worth, dau. Rev. Mark, of that place. He was esteemed there as
a man and a physician. He lost a leg, and removed, about 1797,
to Sharon, Mass. He removed, some years after, to Great Bar-
rington, Mass., and resumed practice. He d. Feb. 21, 1814; his
wife d. Feb. 22, 1793.

979. Sally, b. May 22, 1785; m. Edward Field, M.D., of Waterbury, Conn.
He also m. her sister Esther; and I do not know which was mother of the following
ch., to whom their aunt Rebecca left legacies, in 1844: Mary M., m. Merrimau;

Conn. He was, I presume, the one elected Deacon in New Fairfield, Sept. 16,
1827, and for many years prominent in the Church there. The Church Records
there are tiuite imperfect ; and I am only able to sa}' they had a dau. Rachel Aurilla^
bapt. Oct. 17, 1819.

In 1783, he taught school, and Davis, descended from Rich-
ard,Mn his narrative of his life, still extant, says he taught a
good one.

is in confusion, and seems inconsistent with itself. He m. Susan-
nah Bristol. His widow and only surviving brother Abiel are

killed June 10, (?) 1803, by the fall of a tree. His widow Mercy d.

The mother Annis, of Washington (New Preston), leaves a will,
dated Feb. 6, 1830, proved in April following, and remembers her
dau. Amelia, s. Truman, s. Elijah, gr. s. Marke Herman Whedon.

437. SAMUEL WILKINSON ^ David * David,^ b. in Litchlield,
Conn., Aug. 6, 1745 ; m., Nov. 25, 1773, Sabra Catlin.

1008. Caulield, Avhom R, R. Hinnian says settled in Whitestown, N. Y.

Boyd's " Winchester," calling him from Goshen, where I find
no such, says he became owner and occupier of the old Crocker
house, in Winchester, Conn., at parting of Green Woods and
Waterbury River turnpike, as a tavern keeper and blacksmith ;
sold out in 1810; came back in 1819; and in 1823, conveyed to
his son Norman.

1009. George W., graduated at Yale College in 1811. Mr. Dexter, Secretary
of Yale, informs me that he is believed to have studied law, and d. at Oneida
Castle, Oneida county, N. Y., about 1826. Mr. Dexter further says that the father
was in AVinchester, 1807-1810, and then removed to Whitestown, N. Y.

441. ISAAC 5 Isaac * David,=^ b. in Litchfield, Conn., Nov. 12,
1753. He graduated at Yale in 1774; and in his educating his
children, evidently appreciated this fact. He settled as a lawyer
in Litchfield. He m., October, 1779, Hannah, dau. Rev. Samuel
Sacket, of Yorktown, N. Y., then, I suppose, a widow" De Lancy,
or De Lacy. He represented Litchfield in the Legislature, 1782-
1784. He removed, in 1811, to Pompey, N. Y., Avhere he d. Dec.
19, 1818. He was at the massacre of Wyoming, in July, 1778, as
Adjutant of Col. Zebulon Butler's Regiment, and among the few
that escaped.''^

1015. Charles A., b. ^May 23, 1790; graduated at Williams College in 1810; was
a lawyer; d. at Pompey, N. Y., imni., ]\[arch 14, 1818. He was nominated for
Congress, but d. before the election.

The ''Farmer's Monitor,'' Litclilield, Coim., printed by T. Collier,
Nov. 12, 1800, has the following notice:

"Kan away from the subscriber, on the 4th instant, a Negro Girl, named S^ie, a
Slave for Life, a tall, slim-built Wench, about — years of age, squint-eyed. All
persons are forbid harboring or secreting said Girl, as I am determined to prosecute
any person that shall harbor her. Whoever shall return said Girl, or secure her so
that she may be returned, shall be handsomely rewarded, and all necessary charges
paid, by I. BALDAVIX, .Jr."

1761 ; m., Dec. 11, 1788, Timothy Leonard, s. Reuben and Miriam
(Day) Leonard, of West Springlield, Mass. They lived at Gran-
ville, Mass., at Lansingburgh, N. Y., and Albatiy, KY. He d.
April 12,1814; she, Jan. 14, 1840. He was a merchant, and a
large landed proprietor in Lansingburgh.

1017. Frederick Baldwin, b. July 13, 1804; graduated at Yale in 1824; was a
physician, settled at Lansingburgh, N. Y. ; m.. May 25, 1835, Margaret C. Nichols,
of Geneva, N. Y. ; and in 1858, had six ch.

1018. Edward Augustus, b. .Jan. 9, 1806; m., 1833, Sarah Ann Morris; and d.
in 1837, in Louisiana.

1019. Anne Baldwin, b. Nov. 15, 1789; m., 1817, Dr. Peleg Richmond Allen,
who graduated at Williams College in 1811, and had one son. She m. 2'wi. John
Holme, and had no ch.

1020. Miriam, b. Aug. 15, 1791; m., 1816, David H. Raymond, who graduated
at Yale in 1810; d, Sept. 18, 1818. They had one ch., who d. unm.

1021. Elizabeth, b. March 22, 1793; d. March 12, 1796.

1022. Mary, b. Dec. 3, 1795; m., 1816, Charles Marsh, s. Charles, LL.D., and
d. Dec. 21, 1817, without issue.

445. PIORACE " Isaac ' David,^ b. in Litchfield, Conn., Sept. 27,
1765 ; m., June 24, 1791, Rachel Marsh. He succeeded to the
homestead of his father, where all his children were born. He was
