the name of his father should be James ; but, as if anticipating
my search, and the error of his descendants, he, after 1785, had it
recorded in the Records of Wallingford, Conn., that he was born
Jan. 29, 1760, son of Moses. He lived in that part of Wallingford
then the parish, and now the town of Cheshire. As usual, he is
said to be one of three brothers who came from England; said to
have been three years in the Revolution, and during a very cold
winter, etc., etc. He d. March 3, 1839. He m., 1785, Bettina
Geodwell (win ?) who d. in 1798, aged 34. He m. 2"^'' Dec. 20, 1798,
Mary Rice, who d. July 19, 1839, aged 84.
