Sept. 20,' 1791, by Sheshbazar Bentley and his wife, late Hannah Baldwin.

23. Sarah, m. Walker, p^-obably William.

Anthony leaves his gi;andson William Edwards £5. He remem-
bers all the above children. Feb. 10, 1769, Margary writes to
Henry Hale Graham to tile accounts "without my coming down
to Chester any more about that matter," and the paper was wit-,
nessed by her sons Anthony, John and Thomas; also by John
Grray, William Walker and William Keech. Margary made her
will, dated Aug. 22, 1779; proven Sept. 20, 1782. She omitted
AVilliam, Joseph, George and Robert. Anthony's first marriage
disturbed the Friends of Chester, who, 4, 30. 1712, appointed
Agnes Salkeld and Kathern Fairlamb "to gitt a paper of con-
demnation writ." The paper presented at the next meeting was:

" Whereas, At our Monthly Meeting, held at Providence ye 30 day of ye 4tii mo.
last past, it was made a])ear that Hannah Baldwin, daughter William and Mary
Coburu, laitlj^ belonging to this meeting, contrary to the councell. Advice and Chris-
tian Labour of the Friends of this Meeting to her, at Sundry times given, have
actually married to one who does not any way profess the truth with us, which, as it
is contrary to the Apostle's Advice of not being uneciuallj' yoked, so it is as consistent
thereto, contrary to the Christian care of our Society and Rules thereof; it is the
sence, therefore, of this meeting that the said Hannah Baldwin is out of unity
with .us until she condemn the same to this meeting; satisfaction, which we truh'
desire that in a sence of her disorderly practice therein she may sincerely do;
and this meeting request Agnes Salkeld and Mary Dell to Read a Coppy of this
minit to her, if she will give thenr an opportunity, that so she may know how she
stands in relation to Friends, desiring she ma\' effectually consider thereon.

9. JOHX ^ Joseph - Thomas,^ is with little doubt (being from
Chester county, Philadelphia,) the John of Byberry, in the out-
skirts of Philadelphia, Penn., who m., in 1725, Sarah Gilbert, b.

Thomas, of Chester County, Pennsylvania. 747

June 4, 1700, a sister of the gr. grandsire of Gilbert Cope, Esq.,
of West Chester, Penu. (my informant), and had at least two sons,
John and Joseph.

24. Johu.

25. Joseph.

April 9, 1748, Jose[)li Gilbert, of Byberry township, yeoman,
deeds to his dan. Sarah, wife of John Baldwin, two hundred and
fifty-four acres out of one thousand granted by William Penn,
Sept. 15, 1681, to Hugh Lamb, of St. Martin, in the Fields Mid-
dlesex, hosier, as part of two thousand acres. Lamb, by will, 8,
20, 1686, to his brother Daniel, who died intestate, and inherited
by his brother Joseph, of Oxford, hosier, who, 8, 30, 1711, deeded
to James Logan, sometimes of Philadelphia, merchant, warrant
of survey, June 25, 1710, near the manor of Richland, Bucks
county, and deeded May 15, 1716, by Logan, to Joseph Gilbert.

In the uncertainties of the Johns, I leave the above, although
it will be seen, under John, of Bristol, Bucks county, (hereafter
under the heading, "Miscellaneous Pennsylvania,") that his sou
is more probably the husband of Sarah Gilbert, and his children
are there traced. Xor can I make John, of Oxford, Philadelphia
county, come right, who died too soon, leaving a sou, who was
a joiner.

10. WILIAM^ William- Thomas,^ of Delaware county, now
Chester county. Taxed as unmarried in Aston in 1734, but next
year as married; also in 1747 and 1749. In 1754, 1756 and 1757,
appears none of Aston, but of Bethel. Then he appears in Bethel
until 1786. He was probably born about 1710 to 1715. He could
not have been the son of John, of Aston ; possibly he was of
Francis, of Chester, whose children do not appear with certainty,
but not probably so, as being born too late, and not named with
other sons by the Uncle in his will. He could not have been the
son of Thomas, of Chester, as that William died in 1722. But
the last William left his property to his wife. His father, in 1731,
mentions William's rightful heir. I indine to think this rightful
heir was probably the above William, of Aston. That very accu -
rate genealogist, Mr. Cope, made the suggestion which I have
arrived at the second time by elimination. Cope, with high prob-
ability, makes him the father of

26. John, of Concord aud Xewton. 4-

There is little doubt bat that he was also the father of

27. David, an unm. taxable; of Bethel in 1771; m. by 1775; and of Concord in
