Stevens meets the
exciting challenge of

change

"By working around obstacles, by unsentimentally jet-
tisoning outmoded traditions, the company (Stevens) has
shown the textile industry how to survive and prosper."

Fortune Magazine

J. P. Stevens, Americas oldest diversified textile company
is a "young" company. . . in thought, action and outlook. It's
a place for young, new ideas and their authors. And a place
where leadership to meet the expanding challenges in
textiles is sought and welcomed.

Stevens is a place where people make the difference—
the capable, uncommon people. Are you one? Then contact
your Placement Director for information on the career
opportunities Stevens has for you.

We do it by consistently building

Like our Maxfli It's one of the big
reasons we're number one So we do
what It takes and spend what it takes
to be sure every Maxfli we make looks,

every other Maxfli we make. And does it
all better than any other ball around.

Quality IS the word. You'll find it in every-

No, we won't tell you again how the Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina brought the electricity to the
rural areas of our state . . . how they brought light to the farms and countryside replacing the oil lamp. But we'll
be glad to fill you in on how the Co-ops are STANDING TALL today, not only by supplying low-cost, efficient elec-
tric power, but . . . by developing the rural areas of South Carolina, her people and resources . . . working hard to
insure that all South Carolinians get adequate housing, clean water, better education, recreational facilities, bene-

Duralite, because it's lighter. Less wear and tear on your looms. Lighter
because the dents are not soldered but held in place by a high strength
thermoplastic material. Which makes dent breakage ancient history.

Even though Duralite has the same overall dimensions as a soldered
reed, each dent has a longer usable free height to give greater flexi-
bility. Which means less yarn breakage and abrasion. Better weaving
from your looms. Duralite. Ifs what you'd expect from a company
where Innovation is a way of doing business.

We once made history back in 1897 when we introduced a flat steel
heddle for use in the weaving of raw silk. They say history never re-
peats itself but Duralite says difFerently. Wait and see.

On second thought, why wait. Call your Stehedco man today for a look
at the reed of tomorrow.

We just took the wraps
off an amazing new reed.
