appointed acting governor of the Territory of Louisiana. He
was born in Bridgeport, England ; died in Philadelphia, Pa.

Samuel Briggs, (1730-95), served in the pioneer warfare ot
Kentucky under his brother-in-law, Col. Benjamin Logan.

Levi Todd, (1756-1807), was a defender of the fort at Har-
rodsburg ; was at the battle of Blue Licks and aide to Gen.
George Rogers Clark. He died in Fayette Co., Ky.

Abraham Hill, (1734-1812), was a minute-man at Bunker

Hill, where were also his sons, Abraham and Thomas. He
served under ditiferent commands, 1776-78, and enlisted as a
private, 1779, to reen force the Continental Army. He was
born in West Cambridge, Mass., where-he died.

Walter Russell, (1737-82), served as a minute man in Capt.
John Parker's company, 1775. He was born in West Cam-
bridge, where he died.

Nathan Lord, (1758-1807), was second lieutenant of Scam-
mon's :\Iassachusetts regiment, 1775 ; transferred to Conti-
nental Infantry, 1776; wounded and taken prisoner at the
Cedars, 1776. He was ransomed by an English officer and
exchanged. He was bom in Berwick, Me. ; died in Rollins-
ford, N. H.
