Daughter of William Nutt and Lucy Avery, his second wife, m. 1803.

William Nutt, (1762-1843), was a private, 1777, under Capt.
John Orr and was at Bennington. In 1781 he enlisted in the
wagon service under Samuel Kimball, conductor of New
Hampshire troops. He was bom in Deerfield, N. H.

MRS. MARGARET CAMPBELL CRAIG. 24928

Born in Salem Township, Pennsylvania.

Descendant of Lieut. Alexander Craig and of Samuel Craig,
of Pennsylvania.

Daughter of Alexander Craig and Jane Clark, his wife.

Granddaughter of Samuel Craig and Elizabeth McDonald, his first
wife.

Alexander Craig, (1755-1832), served in the commissary and
was in the battle of Princeton. He removed, in 1769, from
Cumberland to Westmoreland Countv, where he died.

Samuel Craig was one of the signers of the Westmoreland
Declaration. He served in the Commissary and was killed by
the Indians, 1777, on his way to Fort Ligonier to procure sup-
plies. He was born about 1730.

died near Randolph, N. Y.

Israel Gates, (1727-1800), served at the siege of Boston.
He is on the alarm list of men, 1776, reported under fifty years
of age. He was born in Conway, Alass., where he died.

Peter Rhodes, (1741-1823), was an officer of the "Pigot
Galley," commanded by Capt. Jeremiah Smith, 1778. He
served in the "Pawtucket Rangers," 1781. He was born in
Warwick, where he died.

Nicholas Matthewson served three years in the Kentish
Guards to defend the shores of Narranganset Bay. He was

General Assembly, 1778, ensign of militia. He was bom in
Exeter, where he died.

Augustus Ellis, (1758-1836), served as a private and sur-

Christopher Lippitt, (1744- 1824), served as colonel at the
battle of Princeton. In 1780 he was appointed brigadier gen-
eral of militia and commanded a brigade when the French
troops under Rochambeau occupied Newport. He was born
in Cranston, where he died.
