And as Obadiah was in the way, behold, EHjah met him : and

hold, Elijah is here. And he said. What have I sinned, that thou
wouldest dehver thy servant into the hand of Aliab to slay me ?
As the Lord thy God liveth, there is no nation or kingdom whither
my lord hath not sent to seek thee : and when they said, He is not
there ; he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they
found thee not. And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold,
Elijah is here. And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone
from thee, that tl)C Spirit of tl)C £or5 sl)all carrg tijce whither

And all Judah stood before the Lord, with their little ones
their wives, and their children.

Then upon Jlalja^iel the son of Zechariah, the son of Be-

of Asaph, came tl)C Spirit of tlje C-Orb in the midst of the con

of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, thus saith the Lord unto
you, Be not afraid or dismayed by reason of this great multitude;
for the battle is not yours, but God's. To-morrow go ye down
against them.

Yet thou in thy manifold mercies forsookest them not in the
wilderness : the pillar of the cloud departed not from them by
day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night,

The voice said, Cry. And lie said, What shall I cry ? All
flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the
field: the grass wherewith the flower fadeth : because the spirit of
the Lord bloweth upon it : surely the people is grass.

Who hath birectcb tlje Spirit of tljc £orb, or being his
counsellor hath taught him ?

Behold my servant, whom I uphold ; mine elect, in whom my
soul delighteth ; I have put mn Spirit Itpoit Ilim : he shall bring
forth judgment to the Gentiles.

Come ye near unto me, hear ye this ; I have not spoken in
secret from the beginning ; from the time that it was, there am I ;
and now the Lord God, aitb l)is Spirit, hath sent me.

So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and
his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come

in hke a flood, the Spirit of tl)c £orb sl)all lift up a stonborb

He said. Surely they are my people, children that will not lie :
so he was their Saviour. In all their affliction he was afflicted,
and the angel of his presence saved them : in his love and in his
pity he redeemed them ; and he bare them, and carried them all
the days of old.

But they rebelled, and vexch l)i3 i^olu Spirit : therefore he
was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them. Then
he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying,
Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shep-

brightness round about. As the appearance of the bow that is in
the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the bright-

glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I

me. Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive
in thine heart, and hear with thine ears. And go, get thee to them
of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto
them, and tell them. Thus saith the Lord God ; whether they will
hear, or whether they will forbear.

Then t\)C spirit took tttC up, and I heard behind me a voice
of a great rushing, saying. Blessed be the glory of the Lord from his
place. I heard also the noise of the wings of the living creatures
that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels over against

make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt

and thou shalt say unto them, (Jljns Stlitl) tl)C Uorb (i?ob. He

And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in
the fifth day of the month, as I sat in mine house, and the elders
of Judah sat before me, that \\)C Ijiiub of tl)e forb (J>ob fell tl)Crc
upon me. Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of
tire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and
from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the
colour of amber. And |)e put forth the form of an hand, and took
me by a lock of mine head ; and tl)C Spirit lifteb me IXp between
the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to
Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate tliat looketh toward the
north, where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh
to jealousy. And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there,
according to the vision that I saw in the plain. ......

Moreover, tI)C spirit liftcb tltc Itp, and brought me unto the
east gate of the Lord's house, which looketh eastward ; and behold
at the door of the gate five and twenty men ; among whom I saw
Jaazaniah tlie son of Azur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes
of the people. Then said 1)C unto me, Son of man, these are the
men that devise mischief, and give wicked counsel in this city :
which say. It is not near ; let us build houses : this city is the
caldron, and we be the flesh. Therefore prophesy against them,
prophesy, O son of man. And tljC Spirit of tI)C £orb fcU Upoit

cherubiras litl up their wings, and the wheels beside them; and the
glory of the God of Israel was over them above. And the glory
of the Lord went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the
mountain which is on the east side of the city. Afterwards tl^e
spirit took mc up, and brought me in a vision bg tl)e Spirit of

had seen went up from me. Then I spake imto them of the cap-

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the

wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

Now when all the people Avere baptized, it came to pass, that
Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, and
the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him,
and a voice came from heaven, which said. Thou art my beloved

And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost, returned from Jordan,
and was led by the spirit into the wilderness.

And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from
heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him not :
but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me,
Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and remaining on
him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

Jesus answered. Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man
be born of water, and of tl^C Gpirit, he cannot enter into the king-
dom of God. That whicli is born of the flesh, is flesh; and tl)Clt

listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell
whence it cometh, and whither it goetli : so is every one that is

born of tl)c Spirit.

And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed
from him for a season. And Jesus returned in t\)C poiDCr of l\)C
Spirit into Galilee : and there went out a fame of him through ail
the region round about.

Then was brought unto liim one possessed with a devil, blind
and dumb ; and he healed him, insomuch that tiie blind and dumb
both spake and saw. And all the people were amazed, and said.
Is not this the son of David? ]h\t when the Pharisees heard it,
they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the
prince of the devils. And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto
them. Every kingdum di\ idcd against itself is brought to desolation ;
and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand. And
if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself ; how shall then
his kingdom stand? And if I by Jjcelzebub cast out devils, by
whom do your children cast them out ? therefore they shall be your
judges. P>ut if I cast out devils bt] tl]C Spirit of iPob, then the
kingdom of God is come unto you. (,)r else, liuw can one enter
into a strong man's house, and spoil his gocxls, except he first bind
the strong man ? and then he will spoil his house. He that is not
with me, is against me ; and he that gathereth not with me, scat-

Wherefore I say unto you. All manner of sin and blasphemy
shall be forgiven unto men : but tl)C bhispl]cnin iigainst tl)C t)oln

but whosoever speaketh against tlie Holy Ghost, it shall not be for-

And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem, said. He
hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out
devils. And he called them unto him, and said unto them in par-
ables. How can Satan cast out Satan ? And if a kingdom be di-
\nded against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house
be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan
rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath
an end. No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil
his goods, except he will first bind the strong man ; and then he
will spoil his house. Verily I say unto you. All sins shall be for-
given unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they
shall blaspheme : but he that shall blaspheme against the Holy
Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation :
because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.

If I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast
them out? therefore shall they be your judges. But if I ttlitl) tl)e
finger of C!3ob cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is
come upon you.

Whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall

Ghost, it shall not be forgiven. And when they bring you unto

governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and
the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up, take no thought how

But now I go my way to him that sent me ; and none of you

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all
with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound
from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the
house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them
cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And
they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with
other tongues, as tijc Spirit gave them utterance.

And being let go, they went to their own company, and re-
ported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto tliem.
And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with
one accord, and said. Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven,
and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is ; who, by the
mouth of thy servant David hast said. Why did the heathen rage,
and the people imagine vain things ? The kings of the earth stood
up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and
against his Christ. For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus,
whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with
the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, for
to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be
done. And now. Lord, behold their threatenings : and grant unto
thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, by
stretching forth thine hand to heal ; and that signs and wonders

An<l with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection
of the Lord Jesus : and great grace was upon them all. Neither
was there any among them that lacked : for as many as were pos-

the things that were sold, and laid them down at the apostles' feet :
and distribution was made unto every man according as he had

But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife,
