||Historical Sketch of Stockton Springs, Maine
||This is a great little book, with a lot of detail about local history. And a lot of pictures of the town 100 years, it's docks and ships. As well as a much of snapshots of local businessmen (which is of particular interest to those of us who are descended from some of them.)
A book every interested Stockton resident should read (or have - the Stockton Springs Historical Society released an inexpensive paperback edition in 2007, in time for the books 100th anniversary.)
Hichborn includes great information on activities during the Civil War, the local lighthouse, details of all the wooden ships built in Stockton, the coming of the railroad and building the docks.
