Missionary in Scotland; high priest. Indian war veteran.
In the forefront in Echo Canyon trouble, with Lot Smith
company. Located at Bountiful 1854. and in 1858 returned
to Salt Lake City. In 1860 moved to Moroni; then to Heber
City: fought Indians both places. Pioneered in all the
early necessary improvements; made two trips to Missouri
river to bring immigrants to Utah. Died Dec. 23, 1909,
Heber City, Utah.

NICOL, HYRUM CHASE (son of Thomas Nicol and Johanna
Christina Handberg). Born Feb. 9, 1876, Heber City, Utah.

Married Isabella Crawford Murdock Sept. 22, 1903, Salt
Lake City (daughter of John Murray Murdock and Isabella
Crawford of Heber City), who was born Jan. 10, 1876. Their
children: Thomas Murdock b. Aug. 26, 1904; Hyrum Chase
b. March 19, 1906; Kenneth Crawford b. July 11, 1908; John
Murray b. June 20, 1912. Family home Duchesne. Utah.

Member 20th quorum seventies; missionary to New Zea-
land Jan. 1, 1900. to June 8, 1903; high priest; counselor to
Bishop George Victor Billings, Theodore ward, Duchesne
stake; Sunday school teacher Heber City and Theodore
wards; ward teacher at Theodore. Helped in every possible
way the first settlers who came to Uinta reservation May.
1906, and has assisted in all improvements incident to a new
country. Rancher. Vice president of Duchesne Irrigation
Company; now associated with Pioneer Supply Company;
and also engaged in farming.

Jensen, Jutland, Denmark). Born April 14, 1833, in Jut-

1863. She was born March 2, 1826. Their children: Niels

Married Johanna Christena Anderson, in 1840, Skrobetov,
Denmark (daughter of Andrew Hansen and Ingar Margretta
Larsen, Clausbolle, Denmark). Their children: Jensina
Christina, m. Mads Hansel; Ingar, m. Jens Peter Jensen;
Dorthea, m. John Riggs; Nieltine, m. William Hjord; Ber-
eritte, m. B. Iversen; Annie Christina, m. Ola N. Liljenquist,
who was famed as an Immigrant oxtraln captain.

Pioneer. Died Oct. 18, 1911.



NIELSON, HANS (son of Niels Jensen, born 1801, at Oede-
hadstrup, and Blrthe Christofers Dather, born 1809, at
Brordrup, both of Sjelland Amt, Denmark). Born Jan. 1.
1833, Brordrup, Sjelland, Denmark. Came to Utah Sept. 15,
1864, William B. Preston company.

Married Maria S. Jonas Iric (widow), Feb. 29, 1860
(daughter of Christoffer Knudsen and Mattle Christensen).
She was born Oct. 3, 1827, and had a son by a former mar-
riage, Adolph Hansen, who bore his father's name; both
died.

Called to settle on Little Colorado, Ariz., 1876; hauled
stone for Salt Lake Temple 1867; assisted in bringing
immigrants to Utah. Resided at St. Joseph, Ariz.



NIELSEN, HANS T. Born June 28, 1826, Denmark. Came
to Utah Oct. 22, 1866, Abner Lowry company.

Married Nicollna Rasmina Espasen Oct. 4, 1851, In Den-
mark. She was born Feb. 18, 1827. Their children: Christina

Utah, pioneers 1849). She was born Feb. 2, 1875. Their

Aug. 24, 1901; Lyle b. March 11. 1903; Stanley Call b. Dec.
14, 1905; Gwendolyn b. Oct. 12, 1910. Family home Provo,

1842, Odense, Denmark. Came to Utah Aug. 29, 1863, Cap-

Married Anna Kerstine Dorthea Byer June 21, 1865, Provo,
Utah, who was born June 21, 1843, Horsena, Denmark,
and died April 19, 1881. Their children: Maria Kerstine Dor-
thea b. March 31, 1866, m. John F. Carter; Emelia Amanda
Jorglne b. Oct. 12, 1868; Jorgen Christian b. Dec. 7, 1869. d.
