St. George to Thurber, Utah, 1883, where he labored as
teacher, assistant superintendent Sunday school and home
missionary; helped to build up Thurber and the sur-
rounding country. Moved from Thurber to Nibley, Ore.,
1902, where he acted as ward teacher and home missionary,
and helped to build up the city of Nibley. From there he
moved to Union, Ore., where he was ward teacher.



PETERSON, OLE (son of Per Olsen and Charstena Chris-
tensdatter, of Wallby, Sweden). Born Sept. 29, 1810, at
Wallby. Came to Utah 1857.

Married Bengta Andersdatter, at Wallby, who was born
March 23, 1814, d. July 4, 1881, Ephraim, Utah. Their chil-
dren: Per Olsen, m. Kama ; Niels Olsen, m. Kama ;

Berta Olsen, m. August Swenson; Bengta; James Olsen;
Kjersty Olsen.

Died Oct. 1, 1857, Little Cottonwood, Utah.



PETERSON, PETER P. (son of Hans Peterson and Mar-
garet Larsen of Denmark). Born Jan. 11, 1841, Bjorup,
Falster, Denmark. Came to Utah Sept. 4, 1859, George
Rowley handcart company.

Married Ann Powell Dec. 12, 1870, Salt Lake City (daugh-
ter of Thomas Powell and Margaret Davis of Wales, pio-
neers Aug. 20, 1868, Chester Loveland company). She was
born June 17, 1850. Their children: Thomas W.. m. Lettie
Taylor; Peter P., m. Hazel Parkinson; John D., m. Emily
Ritchie; Hans C., m. Syrena Keddington; Margaret E., m.

PETTEGREW, DAVID (son of William Pettegrew born
1752, Woodbury, Conn.). Born July 29, 1791, Chesterfield,
Vt. Came to Utah September, 1847, with contingent of
Mormon Battalion.

Married Elizabeth Alden (daughter of John Alden), who
was born Oct. 14, 1791. Their children: Lucy Ann b. April

PETTEY, ALBERT (son of Ebenezer Pettey, born 1737, died

Kentucky, 25 miles below Cincinnati). Born Aug. 10, 1795,
In Bourbon county, Ky. Came to Utah Sept. 24, 1848, Heber
C. Kimball company.

Married Catherine Pettey (no relation) June 2, 1829
(parents resided near Dover, Stewart county, Tenn.). She
was born Feb. 6, 1803, in Stewart county, and came to Utah

(daughter of John Lowry and Mary Wilcox, both of Manti,

born March 13, 1834, in Clay county, Mo., and died Oct. 21,

Indians at Moab. Utah 1855; first bishop of Sterling, Utah, six

1862; then to Johnson's Fort where he lived one year; then
to Kanarraville where he resided three years; returned to
Manti 1871; next resided at Petteyville (Sterling) six years;
moved to St. John, Ariz, and then back to Utah; resided at
Mayrteld several years; then moved to Emery 1888. Parti-
cipated in the Indian trouble April 3, 1849, at Battle Creek,
Utah, also took part in the Walker Indian war 1853; and
when the Black Hawk trouble started was in Rabbit val-
ley protecting the settlers from Indian attacks.

PETTET, HEBER C. KIMBALL (son of Albert and Cath-
erine Petty of Bourbon county, Ky.). Born Dec. 29, 1840,
in Missouri. Came to Utah Sept. 24, 1848, Heber C. Kimball
company.

Married Eunice Snow, in 1870, Manti, Utah (daughter of
George Washington Snow and Mary Wells of Manti; came
to Utah with oxteam). She was born Feb. 5, 1850, in Mis-

stead, N. Y.). Born Feb. 16, 1834, near Hempstead. Came to

Married Maria Pettit April 12, 1860 (daughter of James
and Phoebe Pettit, pioneers 1848), who was born Feb. 17,
1835. Only child: Alice Maria, b. Feb. 27, 1861, m. Adam
Walker, July 24, 1885.

Married Rebecca H. Hill Oct. 29, 1864, Salt Lake City
(daughter of Archibald Hill, pioneer Sept. 28, 1847, Newel
Whitney company, and Isabel Hood, who died on the plains).

six years later. Has crossed desert from Salt Lake City to
California twenty times. Member of body guard of Brig-
ham Young and Daniel H. Wells.

Long Island, N. Y.). Born Feb. 14, 1810, Long Island, N. Y.
Came to Utah September, 1848, Heber C. Kimball company.

Married Margaret Ellsworth Jan. 4, 1835, Long Island, N.
Y. (daughter of Lawrence Ellsworth and Elizabeth Picket
of New Jersey). She was born April 16, 1815. Their chil-

(daughter of Rosewell Stevens, pioneer 1847, and Mariah
Vale, of Alpine). She died March 19, 1859.

of Ohio, pioneers). She was born Oct. 3, 1885. Family

PHELPS, WILLIAM WINES (son of Enon Phelps and
Mehitabel Goldsmith, of Hanover, Morris county, N. J., and
Nauvoo). He was born Feb. 17, 1792, Hanover, N. J. Came
to Utah Sept. 16, 1848, Brigham Young company.

(daughter of David B. Waterman and Jerusha Bassett of
Ohio), who was born July 24, 1797, Franklin, Delaware

Aylesford, Nova Scotia, pioneers. Oct. 4, 1854, Orson Pratt
and Horace S. Eldredge company). She was born Dec. 19,

ter of Henrik Peter Jensen of Germany and Johannah Marie
Jorgensen of Denmark, former came to Utah 1874, the latter,

Married Mary Goodsell 1834, Suttons Lake, West Hyde
Parish, Eng. (daughter of Susan Bailey), who was born
Fob. 14, 1815, and died Dec. 7, 1904. Came to Utah with

Bognell and Maria Bock, pioneers 1859). She was born
1814. Only child: Joseph, m. Sarah L. Roundy. Family
home Wanship, Summit Co., Utah.

Died Nov. 4, 1881.

Bognell). Born Aug. 15, 1853, Brierly Hill, Staffordshire,
Eng. Came to Utah 1864.

Married Sarah L. Roundy Jan. 1, 1876, Wanship, Utah
(daughter of Jared Curtis Roundy and Lovlsa Jenne. of
Wanship; former pioneer July 24, 1847, Brigham Young
company). She was born Jan. 17, 1858. Their children:

Eng. (daughter of Henry Harper of Yorkshire, and Martha
Golltry of Scarborough, Eng.). She was born Aug. 6, 1817,
died April 6, 1897. Their children: Ann Elizabeth b. Dec.

(daughter of Ralph Snowball and Jane Thomas of Salt Lake
City, pioneers 1853). She was born Dec. 19, 1865, at Salt
Lake City. Their children: Franklin William b. June 13,
1884, d. infant; Jane Elizabeth b. Dec. 12, 1886, m. John Fred
Evans; Mary b. Dec. 20, 1888, m. Thomas Bow Brighton.

High priest; ward teacher. Motorman for Utah Light and
Railway company at Salt Lake City 23 years.



PICKETT, MORONI (son of Matthew Pickett and Harriett
Pocock of England). Born Oct. 16, 1848, Currldge, Berk-
shire, Eng. Came to Utah Oct. 16, 1862.

Married Frances A. Clegg July 30, 1870, Salt Lake City
(daughter of Benjamin Clegg and Elizabeth Dodd, England
pioneers 1849, Daniel Jones company). She was born Sept.
