former pioneer 1862, Homer Duncan company, latter born in
Utah). She was born April 6, 1879. Their children: Eliza

THOMAS, DANIEL, CLAYBORN (son of Joseph Thomas).
Born Dec. 12, 1815, in North Carolina. Came to Utah Sept.
8, 1850, Aaron Johnson company.

Married Jane Gaither (daughter of Forest Gaither), who
was born in 1821 and came to Utah with husband. Their
children: Daniel Clayborn b. July 14, 1850, m. Elizabeth
Sharp; Sarah Jane b. Dec. 21. 1852, m. "William L. Stewart;
James Madison b. Aug. 18, 1855, m. Mary Geddes Sept. 18,
1879. Family resided Lehi, Cedar Fort, Smithfleld and Plain
City, Utah.

One of the first five families to settle at Lehi; also an
early settler to Cedar Fort; moved to Smithfleld 1861, and in
1863 went to Plain City where he lived until his demise,

Wales). He was born April 13, 1826, in Carmarthenshire.
Came to Utah in 1855, Captain Jones company.

Married Mary Langlois Nov. 29, 1856 (daughter of Samuel
Langlois and Mary Ann Merchant, pioneers 1855, Dan Jones
company). She was born 1834; came to Utah with parents.
Their children: David F. b. Dec. 6, 1861; Mary Ann b. Feb.
18, 1858, m. Peter Peterson Dec. 15, 1880; Elizabeth Jane b.
Feb. 18, 1858, m. S. T. Whitaker Dec. 15, 1880; Hannah

pany). She was born March 21, 1849, at Sweets, Sweden.

THOMAS, DANIEL W. (son of David Thomas and Ann Jones,
former of Glli Gren, and latter of Carmarthenshire, South
Wales). He was born June 16, 1817, Glli Gren, Wales.
Came to Utah Sept. 3, 1852, Abraham O. Smoot's first com-
pany to come by P. E. Aid Fund.



Married Margeret Davis in 1840 (daughter of Daniel Davis
and Sarah Davis, of Carmarthenshire, Wales). She died
before the family left Wales. Their children: David Davis
b. June 7, 1841, m. Jane Lewis Roberts Feb. 6, 1874; Hannah
b. May 20, 1843, m. David Daniels; m. Robert Caldwell.

Married Mary Jones 1844, Glli Gren, Carmarthenshire,
Wales (daughter of Louis Jones and Ellen Lewis, of that
place). She was born May 14, 1819, at Glli, and died Septem-
ber, 1899. Their children: Henry b. March 27, 1846, d.
1854; Daniel b. Aug. 7, 1847, m. Sarah Jones Dec. 9, 1874;
John b. April 1, 1850, m. Mary Jane Evans 1876; Benjamin

School trustee 1874. Settled southwest of Salt Lake; then

Margeret Davis). Born June 7, 1841, Glli Gren, Wales.

Married Jane Lewis Roberts Feb. 6, 1874, Malad, Idaho
(daughter of Edward Giles Roberts and Elizabeth Lewis,
pioneers Oct. 2, 1866). She was born Aug. 23, 1854, Dinas
Mowddwy, South Wales. Their children: Daniel Henry b.
April 11, 1875, m. Mary Roberts Thomas Aug. 23, 1894; Ed-
ward Joshua b. Dec. 16, 1877; Mary Louise b. July 24, 1880,

and Mary Jones). Born July 21, 1857, Brigham City, Utah.

Married Anna Ellen Williams March 26, 1888, Malad, Idaho
(daughter of John Haines Williams and Sarah Davis,
pioneers Oct. 7, 1861). She was born April 11, 1860, Peters-
burg, Pa. Their children: John W. b. Dec. 18, 1889, d. Dec.

Born Aug. 2, 1834, Herefordshire,, Eng. Came to Utah in

Married Jane Harris Baum in 1853, Proyo, Utah (daughter
of Jacob Baum and Agnes Nancy Harris of Provo, Utah,
pioneers 1852). She was born July 2, 1832. Their children:

Adams; Elisha, Jr., m. Josephine Snow; Eliza, died; Rachel,

Married Elizabeth Lee, at Provo, Utah (daughter of John
and Sarah Lee, handcart pioneers). She was born 1846, in

John b. June 7, 1873, m. Eliza J. Hancock May 8, 1895; Mol-

Harris Baum). Born Aug. 26, 1861, Heber City, Utah.

Married Josephine Snow Nov. 7, 1889, Provo, Utah, by
Judge Edge Booth (daughter of James E. Snow and Jose-
phine Ferry of Provo). She was born Sept. 17, 1872. Their

THOMAS, HARRISON AYERS (son of Joseph and Mary
Ann Thomas, both of North Carolina; latter born 1810). He
was born April 6, 1837, Summerville, Kemper county, Miss.
Came to Utah 1851, John Brown company.

Married Ann Morehead Feb. 12, 1858 (daughter of James
Madison Morehead and Elizabeth Turner Thomas, former
died en route to Utah, latter came Sept., 1850, Aaron
Johnson company married 1836). She was born March 20,
1841, and came to Utah with mother. Their children: Mary

THOMAS, HUGH WILLIAM (son of David Thomas and
Elizabeth Williams). Born Jan. 29, 1830, Pembrey, Carmar-
thenshire, South Wales. Came to Utah Aug. 29, 1868, Wil-
liam S. Seeley company.

Married Mary Ann Sparrey (daughter of Thomas and
Sarah Sparrey, former of Carmarthenshire). She also came
with William S. Seeley company. Their children: George
Sparrey, m. Hannah Adelia Dredge; Sarah; David Sparrey,
m. Alice Dredge; Elizabeth, died on the plains. Family
home Pembrey, Carmarthenshire, Wales, before coming to

THOMAS, DAVID SPARRET (son of Hugh William Thomas
and Mary Ann Sparrey). He was born Sept. 23. 1862, Pem-
brey, Wales, as also were his brothers and sisters.

Married Alice Dredge April 13, 1888, Logan, Utah (daugh-
ter of Jesse Richard Dredge and Ellen Rhees, pioneers Sept.
13, 1861, Joseph Home company). She was born Dec. 7,
1868, Malad City, Idaho. Their children: David Dredge b
April 28, 1889; Jesse Dredge b. July 28. 1891; William b. June
7, 1894; Alice Adelia b. Dec. 7, 1896; Herbert Dredge b.

THOMAS, JAMES MORONI (son of Nathaniel Thomas, died
in 1841, at Nauvoo, 111., and Susan Luce, of Mount Pisgah,
Iowa). He was born July 27, 1841, Rochester, Sangamon

THOMAS, JAMES WYLIE (son of James Sands Thomas and
Mary Morrow of Mississippi). Born Sept. 7, 1834, Dallas
county, Ala. Came to Utah Oct. 2, 1847, Jedediah M. Grant
company. His step-father, Washington Norwood Cook, ac-
companied him.

Married Mary Elizabeth Koyle in December, 1855, Spanish
Fork, Utah (daughter of John H. Koyle and Nancy Macurdy
of Illinois, pioneers 1852, Edward Hunter company). She
was born May 30, 1840. Their children: Mary Elizabeth b.
Dec. 25, 1856, m. Samuel Brockbank; Wylie Edward b. Aug.
3, 1858, m. Mary Ann Banks; Hyrum Franklin b. Aug. 28,

David of Wales). Born July 25, 1831, Brigend, Wales.
Came to Utah July 18, 1878, Lorenzo D. Young company.

Married Joanna T. Brennan 1858, Neath, Wales (daugh-
ter of Eward Albert Brennan and Miss Flemming of Ire-
land). She was born May 30, 1830. Their children: Jen-
kyn, m. Ellen P. Kessler; David, m. Eleanor Pyper- Matho-
nihah, m. Angeline A. Smith; Albert Edward, Cyrus and Ella
latter three died. Family resided Farmington and Salt
Lake City, Utah.

1886-88; high priest. Shoemaker. Died Dec. 7, 1896 Farm-
ington, Utah.

THOMAS, MATHONIHAH (son of Jenkyn Thomas and
Joanna T. Brennan). Born July 20, 1872, Aberdare. Glamor-
ganshire, South Wales. Came to Utah when 6 years of age

(daughter of Elias Smith and Amy Jane King of Salt
Lake City, pioneers 1850). She was born July 11 1869

Went out and met immigrants in 1855, and assisted them
into their zion, and to the settling points further down the
country. Served through the Echo Canyon difficulty. He
was one of the early settlers of Malad City, going there in
April, 1866.

Was one of the first merchants of Malad City starting in
business in 1879. Died Nov. 8, 1905.

THOMAS, SETH (son of Thomas Moroni Thomas and Rachel
Rees). Born Aug. 26, 1886, Malad City, Idaho.

Married Julia Peck June 16, 1909 (daughter of Fred Peck,
born July 21, 1849, in Greene county, N. Y., pioneer Oct. 15,
1863, Samuel D. White company, and Lizzie Leigh, born
July 3, 1854, Brigham City. Utah). She was born Jan. 26,
1888, at Malad City, Idaho. Only child: Carol b. June 29,
1910. Family home Malad City, Utah.

Manager of the mercantile firm of T. M. Thomas Sons,
Malad City.

jamin Philips and Sarah Owens), who was born June 6,

Missionary to Europe 1867-68. Kept the first hotel at
Brigham City; agent for Wells-Fargo Stage Company; pio-
neer merchant in northern Utah. Early settler in Park
Valley and Grouse Creek, Utah.

THOMAS, DAVID PRICE (son of William C. Thomas and
Margrett Philips). Born Feb. 17. 1858, Brigham City, Utah.

Married Maud Mary Frost Dec. 21, 1881, Corinne, Utah
(daughter of Edward Frost and Maud Mary Scottorn, the
latter a pioneer, Israel Evans company). Only child: Maud
Mary b. June 10, 1890, m. Ezra Clark June 12, 1907. Family
resided Brigham City, Park Valley, Grouse Creek, Utah, and
Oakley, Idaho.

of Jens Olsen, born Feb. 27, 1805, Ida Sogn, Norway, and
Annie Dorthea Johnson, born 1804, at Berg Sogn, Norway).
She was born July 29, 1833; came to Utah with husband.
