cart company, both born in Scotland). She was born Feb.

Bright and Mary Etta Smith). Born Feb. 6, 1871, Richmond,
Utah.

Married Merelda Peart Dec. 17, 1895, at Richmond (daugh-
ter of Benjamin Peart and Elizabeth Ashment, former
born at Salt Lake City, latter came to Utah Oct. 1868,
Simpson Molen company). She was born Dec. 17, 1872,
Franklin, Idaho. Their children: Preston Leon b. Sept. 26,
1896; Esse Merelda b. Jan. 6, 1900; Ray Cornelius b. Dec. 28.
1902; Lorin Vernon b. Nov. 25, 1905.



BRIGHT, JOHN (son of John Bright and Susan Pugh). Born
March 26, 1849, Pottawattamie county, Iowa. Came to Utah
Sept. 15, 1852, in company with elder brother.

Married Phoebe Smith (daughter B. B. Smith and Delilah
Hyler), who was born Dec. 28, 1853, and came to Utah with
parents. Their children: John Wesley b. Jan. 12, 1873, m.
Alice Taggart Oct. 28, 1896; Phoebe Etta b. March 27, 1874,
m. Thomas Waddoups Dec. 18. 1890; Alice May b. Dec. 25,
1875, m. Henry Taggart; Sarah Florence b. Oct. 2, 1878, m.
Marcus Taggart Nov. 3. 1897; Adah b. Feb. 3, 1881, m. C. B.
Wheeler July 11, 1906; Emma b. Aug. 26, 1882; Delilah b.
March 16, 1884, m. George Gregory June 11, 1903. Family
home Lewiston. Utah.

Veteran Indian wars. Settled at Alpine in 1852; moved to
Richmond in 1860, and to Lewiston in 1874. Went across the
plains during the summer of 1868 to assist straggling and
unfortunate immigrants.



BRIM, ALFRED WALLACE (son of Frederick and Eunice
Brim of Madison county, N. Y.). Born Nov. 15, 1815, In
Madison county, and came to Utah in 1852.

Married Mary Ann Merrill 1849 in Ohio (daughter of Gil-
man Merrill and Rebecca Sevier, pioneers of Ogden, Utah).
She was born Nov. 23, 1830. Their children: Alfred Gilman
b. 1850, m. Agnes Asper; Alonzo Adelbert b. March 10, 1853,
m. Mary Jane Cluff; Willard Wallace b. 1855, m. Lillian
Monson; Hyrum Fredrick and George Franklin, died; Alice
Ann b. Nov. 25, 1862, m. Oluf Henrickson; Evaline Mae b.
May 2, 1865, m. J. P. Dean. Family home Coalville, Utah.

One of the first to haul stone for the Salt Lake temple;
also one of the first tanners in Utah. Died May 2, 1897.

BRIM, ALONZO ADELBERT (son of Alfred Wallace Brim
and Mary Ann Merrill). Born March 10, 1853, Salt Lake
City.

Married Mary Jane Cluff Oct. 7, 1877. Salt Lake City
(daughter of Benjamin Cluff and Mary Ellen Foster of
Provo, Utah). She was born June 25, 1855. Their children:
Mary Leone b. July 9, 1878, m. Sidney P. Phillips; Stella
Aleane b. March 27, 1880, m. Raymond Rasband; Mildred

Married Rachel Ann Mayer Feb. 2, 1852, Salt Lake City
(daughter of George Mayer and Ann Yost of Nauvoo, 111.,
pioneers Sept. 24, 1848, Heber C. Kimball company). She
was born Feb. 9, 1829, Bucyrus, Crawford county, Ohio.
