Elizabeth, by the grace of God Queue of England, Fraunce, and Ireland, Defendor of the
Fay the, &c. To the Treasourer and Barons of cure Exchequier, and to all and singuler our
Audy[tors], officers, and mynisters of the same our Exchequier, and to every of them, gretinge.
Whereas diuerse persons. Aliens borne, dwellinge at Antewerpe and other places in the parties
of [beyond] the Seas, and resortinge to our Citie of London withe their wares and merchandizes,
somme of them being Merchauntes themselves, and some of them factors [for] Merchauntes
atraungers, be severally [assessed] and taxed amonges other thinhabitantes of our said Citie of
London, as inhabitantes of the same Citie, to pay vnto vs to and for the firste and seconde pay-
mentes of the Subsidie g[ranted] vnto vs by the te[mp]oraltie in the Parliament begon and
holden Westminster, the xxiij*^i day of January in the first yere of our Reigne, and there
proroged till the xxv day of the sam[e month], then and there holden, kepte, and continued
vnto the dissolucion of the same, beinge theight day of Maye than nexte followinge, diuerse
and seuerall sommes of money follow[ing for] goodes, catalls, and other causes, supposed to be

deracions vs specially movinge, of oure grace especiall and mere mocion, geven and graunted,
and by these presentes do geve and graunte vnto the said Peter Serys, Wynoll Torll, Bastian
Dankerde, Lambert de Wolf, Giles de Hwssher, Gyles Vantbountnyek, Gysbright Dormall,
Hans Vanhecke, Cornelys Van, otherwise called Cornelys van End, Arnold de Wolff', Xp'ofer
Vanghener, and Frauneis Wynter, and to every of them, the said hole and entier sommes vpon
them and every of them to the sayd first and seconde paymentes of the Subsidye aforesaid,

seuerally and to be receyved by them and every of them by his owne handes of our gyfte,
without preste or other charge to be sett vpon them or any of them for the same or any parte
thereof. Wherefore we woll and commaunde yow our said Treasourer and Barons and other
our oiBcers and mynisters in our said Courte of the Exchequier to whom it shall apperteigne,
that ye and every of yow from tyme to tyme, in thaccompte or acconiptes which the Collector
or Collectors of the said paymentes of the Subsedye aforesaid or either of them within our
said Citie of London be in yeldinge, or hereafter shall yeld and make before yow or any of
yow, or that is or may be charged vpon the said Straungers, or any of them, by reason of any
accompte or accomptes before yow, or any of yow already made and yelded of and for the pay-
mentes aforesaid, or either of them, by viide super, or other wise, and by vs to them gevin and
graunted in forme aforesaid, ye do vtterly, fully, and clerely acquyte and discharge against vs,
our heires and successors for euer as well the persons Aliens aboue named, and every of them,
and the factors, attorneys, executors, and admynistrators of them and every of them, as also
the Collector or Collectors of the said paymentes of the Subsedye aforesaid, and either of them,
within our said Citie of London, and every of them, charged or chargeable vpon their jointe or
severall accompte or accomptes before yow made or to be made of the paymentes aforesayd, of
all and singular the said seuerall somes of money and every parte and parcell thereof vpon
the said persons Aliens and every of them taxed and assesed, and in forme aforesaid to them
severally gevin and graunted. And that ye do make or cause to be made vnto the said Col-
lector or Collectors and every of them plaine allowance and deduction of all and every of the
said sommes of monej^ by vs in maner and forme aforesaid gevin and graunted and of every
parte and parcell thereof, without any other or further wa[rrant] to be sued or had in that be-
half. And that ye surcease for ever of all and almaner of processes, execucions, sutes, quarrells,
and demaundes made or to be made for vs and in our [name] againste the said persons Aliens
or the said factors, servantes, or attorneys, or against the said Collector or Collectors, or any of
them, or theires, executors, or admynistrators of them or any of them the premysses concern-
yng. And all other thinge and thinges ye and every of yow doe and suffer or cause to be don
from tyme to tyme that may be for the clere, sure and perfecte discharge of the said persons
Aliens and every of them, their factors, attorneys, and Collectors abouesaid of and in the pre-
mysses and every parte and parcell thereof accordinge to the true meanyng of this our graunte.
That expresse mencion of the names of the said collectors and every or any of them, or of thacte
of the graunte of the said Subsydie or any other acte, statute, or ordenaunce heretofore made, or
any vse, custome, or auncyent order or course of our said Exchequier, or any other ambiguitie,
doubte, question, matier, or cause whatsoeuer yow or any of yow to the contrary hereof by
any meanes, or for any cause movinge, notwithstandinge. And theis our letters shalbe your
sufficient warrant and discharge in that behalf. Yeven vnder our Prevy Scale, at our Manor
of Grenewiche, the third day of June, the seconde yere of our Reigne.
