Hotesdale isa polling-station at the election of inemhers
for West Suffolk. 'l"he mat ket has now (alien into dis-
use ; but a fair on Holy Thursday, and astiltitefor
hiring auricMiltural servants, on the Thnrsday before
the 11th of October, are maintained. The pari^h con-
tiiined, by the returns lendered in 1831, 655 inhabitants,
and in 1841, 633.

the gift of George St. Vincent Wilson, Esq., who is
also lord of the manor ; the present rector is the Rev.

have a small chapel in the village; and there is a na-
tional schtxil, established in 18l5. Caidinal Widsey,
the disgracsd favourite of Heniy VIII, was sometime
a rector of this living. Redgrave paiisii (independent
of liof(sdali') coiitained, by the pailiamentary census
for 1831, 712 inhabitants, and and bv thai for 1841,
719.

RiCKiNGHALL, Inferior and Superior, are two
parishes contguotrs to Botesdale. They have each
their paiish church, both of which are dedicated to
.Saint Mary, and are alike discharged rectories. Infe-
rior Ricl;inghall contained in 1841, 432 inhabitants;
and the Superior parish, 768.
