Ross, Oliver.

Son of William Ross, merchant. Born at Aberdeen, 12th May, 1842.

from 13th August, 1863. Joined Thomson & Savage, writers, Montrose,
in 1876; title of firm being then altered to Thomson, Savage & Ross.

Sandilands, James Andrew [Paull].

Second son of James Paull, merchant, and sometime magistrate of
Aberdeen, and Margaret Black, his wife. M.A., Mar. Coll., 1802.
App. to Charles Bannerman (1776), from 2nd June, 1802. Proprietor
of Cruives, Aberdeen. One of the Assessors to the Rector of Mar.
Coll., 1835. Infant burgess of Aberdeen, admitted 23rd September,
1783. Died, unmarried, in February, 1846, aged 62.

Shirrefs, Alexander.

Second son of Alexander Shirrefs, advocate (1789.) Born at Aberdeen,

1817. Ensign, H.E.I.C.S. (Madras), 13th February, 1821; Lieut., 10th

Simpson, William Lawrence.

Son of the Rev. Robert Simpson, D.D., minister of the Free Church,
Kintore, and Harriet Mary Brown, his wife. Born 27th July, 1837.

from September, 1854. Solicitor in Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand.

Stewart, William.

Third son of the Rev. Patrick Stewart, M.A., Mar. Coll., 1757, minister
of Kinneff, and proprietor of Carnaveron, Alford, and Christian Leslie,
his wife. Born 22nd April, 1791. Alumnus, Mar. Coll., 1806-9. App.
to David Hutcheon (1789), from 7th October, 1808. Sheriff Clerk of
Kincardineshire, from 1815. Succeeded to Carnaveron. Died, un-
married, at Stonehaven, 13th November, 1861.3

Tait, Thomas.

Son of William Tait, farmer, Crichie, Kintore, and Elspet Smith, his
wife. Born at Crichie, December, 1801. Educated at Parish School,

from November, 1818. Founder of Port-Elphinstone Meal Mills, and
Inverurie Paper Mills. Married, 18th May, 1833, Catherine Fraser

Wilson, Nathaniel.

Son of Nathaniel Wilson, factor at Cluny, and afterwards farmer at
Mill of Kincardine, and Euphemia Angus, his wife. Alumnus, Mar.
Coll., 1 799-1 802. App. to Duncan Davidson (1794), from 18th
September, 1804. Fell at Waterloo, 18th June, 18 15.

Clerk, and Procurator Fiscal of Banffshire. Characterised as "The
King of Wits." Married at Banff, 2nd July, 1797, Jane (died 30th
November, 1841, aged 63), eldest dau. of James Donaldson of Kinairdy,
Marnoch, Banffshire. Succeeded, as heir of entail, to the estate of
Kininvie, Mortlach, when he assumed the patronymic of Leslie. Died
31st October, 1841, aged 74. x

Young, Robert.

Son of Robert Young, farmer, Inchbroom, Elgin, and Margaret Milne,
his wife. App. to James Blaikie and Patrick Banner man (Blaikie &
Bannerman), from 13th August, 1825. Solicitor in Elgin, from 1st
