His first position after leaving school was with the car wheel foun-
dry of Bowler & Co. When that property changed owners, he opened
a machinery warehouse, under the name of Geo. H. Bowler & Co. The
formation of trusts and consolidation of metal industries made neces-
sary the disposal of the machinery from the many plants thus closed,
and seeing the opportunity, he established a very profitable business.

of her father, "Lakeland," Wickliffe, 0., by Rev. Paul F. Sutphen, pas-
tor of the Second Presbyterian Church, Helen Effie, dau. of Frank and v
Helen Elizabeth (Scofield) Rockefeller, b. Dec. 16, 1879, in Cleveland.

After graduating from the Cleveland schools he finished at Hiram
College. His first experience in business was with the Commercial Na-
tional Bank, after which he was made teller of the Merchants Banking
Co. Later, he went with The Lake Shore Banking & Savings Co. as
Asst. Cashier, and in 1902 was made Secretary and Cashier. He is
intimately connected with a number of important industries and en-
terprises. He is a member of the Union, Century, Country, Euclid and
Hermit Clubs.

No children (1904).
