14. The adult probation officer is appointed by the: (1)
Superior Court Judges of criminal departments; (2)
Police Commission; (3) Presiding Judge of the Su'
perior Court; (4) Mayor.

15. The Municipal Court is required to prepare a
monthly report of its business for the preceding month.
A copy of this report need not be sent to which of
the following officers? (1) City Attorney; (2) Con-
troller; (3) Chief of Police; (4) District Attorney.

16. The police force of the City and County of San
Francisco shall not exceed one police officer for how
many inhabitants thereof? (1) 500; (2) 1000; (3)
250; (4) 750.

17. The Chief of Police shall have the power to designate,
without competitive examination, any member of the
Police Department having the rank of Sergeant or
higher, the position of: (1) Captain of Inspectors;

(2) Captain of Traffic; (3) Director of Bureau of
Personnel; (4) Director of Bureau of Criminal In-
formation.

IR. Bail bonds and appeal bonds taken in the Municipal
Court in San Francisco shall be placed in custody of
the: (1) Controller; (2) Warrant and Bond Clerk;

19. The District Attorney is responsible for the prosecu-
tion of all criminal cases occurring in San Francisco,
except those under the jurisdiction of the ( 1 ) Federal
District Court; (2) Municipal Court; (3) Superior
Court; (4) Appellate Department of Superior Court.

20. If a group of public-spirited citizens gave $5000 for
the use of dependents of injured or deceased members
of the police department, this fund must be accepted
and administered by the (1) Chief of Police; (2)
Retirement system; (3) Police Commission ; (4) Con-
troller.

21. In promotive examinations in the Police Department,
the percentage of the total credits obtainable which
shall be allowed for seniority is: (1) 25%; (2) 10%;
(3) 5%; (4) 15%.

22. After trial and hearing by the Police Commission, a
police officer may be dismissed or suspended for a

curb-side wheels of the vehicle within: (1) 12 inches

curb line; (4) 8 inches of the established curb line.

24. A malicious and guilty intent is conclusively pre-
sumed from the deliberate commission or an unlawful
act, for the purpose of injuring another.

4L The degree of proof required to establish facts in a
criminal action is that which establishes guilt: (1)
by a preponderance of the evidence; (2) to a moral
certainty; (3) beyond possibility of doubt; (4) ex-
cluding possibility of error.

42. Evidence without which a particular fact cannot be
proven is known as: (1) indispensable evidence; (2)
conclusive evidence; (3) prima facie evidence; (4)
corroborative evidence.

43. That kind of evidence which, under every possibli.
circumstance, affords the greatest certainty of the
