FAMILY OF ELI SUA DODGE.

; Elisha Dodge* was born in Beverly, Mass., May
jioth, 1723; married first, Miss Dodge, Nov. 10th,
1 741 ; second, Miss Foster, about 1747; and third,
Mrs. Deborah Lovett, Mar. 23rd, 1769. Resided in
Beverly until 1777, when he removed with his family
to New Boston, New Hampshire, where he died.
His children were : —

First, Sarah, born No\ ;th, 1743, who married a
Mr. Allen of Beverlv, Mass.



* Elisha Dod^e was the lifth and last child of Elisha Dodge of
Beverly, and Marv Kimball of Wenham, his wife, who were pub-
lished Oct. S. 1709. He had three sisters, one of whom married
Jacob Dodge, and another, Lois, who married Jonathan Dodge, and
another, Jerusha, who was married to William 'â–  of Salem, by

Rev. John Chipman.






Second, a daughter who married a Mr. Leach of
Beverly, Mass.

Third, a daughter who married a Mr. Dodge of
Beverly, Mass.

Fourth, Elisha, born in 174S; married a Miss






[Raymond of Beverly; removed to New Boston, New

Hampshire, and afterwards to Johnson, Vermont,



where he died in 181 3. He was present at Lexing-
[ton, and served in the armv daring the Revolutionary
war.

Fifth, Noah, was born in 1750; married Joanne
Lovett ; removed to New Boston, New Hampshire ;
.nd died about 1794.

Sixth, Malachi, was born in 1757; was a sailor
in the United States service during the Revolutionary
v. ar ; was taken prisoner by the British seven times
and effected his escape, or was exchanged. He died
'. unmarried, soon after the close of the war, at Salem,
Mass.

Seventh, Enoch, born in 1762; married JaeL
Cochran of New Boston : removed to Eden, Ver-
mont, where he died in 1 874..

Eighth, Mehitable ; married Elisha Williams of
New Boston, New Hampshire, and died in Eden,
f \ ermont.

N Mary ; married William White of New

Boston, New Hampshire, and Ver-

FAMILY OF ENOCH,

7th CHILD OF
ELISHA DODGE.

Enoch Dodge was born in Beverly, Mass., May
8th, 1762; married Jael Cochran, December 1 8th,
1787, daughter of Nathaniel Cochran and his wife
Elizabeth Darling ; moved to New Boston, New
Hampshire, in 1788, and died in Eden, Vermont,
December 27th 1834, aged 72 years. Jael Cochran,
his wife, was born in New Boston, New Hampshire,
June 4th, 1768, and died April 6th, 1844, in Eden,
Vermont, aged 75 years.



CHILDREN OF ENOCH DODGE.

First, Malachi Foster, born in New Boston, New
Hampshire, August 20th, 1789; married to Jane
Hutchins, daughter of Thomas Hutchins and Priscilla
Dana, January 9th, 181 2 ; resided in Belvidere, Ver-
mont, afterwards in Lowell, Vermont, and from there
he removed with his family to Nashua, New Hamp-
shire, in 1837, where he died, October 13th, 1865.

Second, Elizabeth, born March 28th, 1792, and
died February 22, 1793.

Third, Betsy, born January 17th, 1794, and died
July 22, 1 S02.

, Fourth, Enoch, born December 8th, 1795, and
jied in Crete, Illinois, March 4th, 1873.

Fifth, Elisha, born February 18th, J 798, and died
July 17th, 1S02.

Sixth, Jane, born January 25th, 1800, and died

Seventh, Nathaniel C, born May iSth, 1802;
resides in JefFersonville, Vermont.

Eighth, Joseph, born March 31st, 1804, and died
in June, 1 864.

Ninth, Mary, born June 24th, 1806, and resides in
San Francisco, California.

Tenth, Hiram, born June 25th, 1808, and died
May 13th, 1859; and his wife, Elizabeth M., died
August 1st, 1 862.

Eleventh, John, born December 2d, 18 10, and died
March 26th, 18 14.

DODGE. i

Malachi Foster Dodge, was born in New
Boston, New Hampshire, August 20th, 1789 ; died,
October 13th, 1865; his wife, Jane Hutchin, was
born in Weathersfield, Vermont, February 22d, 1702,
and died February 14th, 1S70. They were married
I in Belvidere, Vermont, January 9th, 1812

First, Priscilla D., horn May 22d, 1813; married
William H. Huntly, and died August 12th, 1864.

Second, Malachi F., born January 8th, 181 5;
married Charlotte A. Ober for his first wife, and for
his second wife, Hannah P. Edwards ; now resides
in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Third, Elisha C, born September 27th, 1 8 1 6, and
died February 10, 1825.

Fourth, Sarah Jane, born July 6th, 1818; married
Frederick P. Bixby, and resides in Chelsea, Vermont.

Fifth, Daniel D., born June 28, 1820; married,
Harriet M. Wyman, for his first wife, and Janet
Henderson Gay, for his second wife; resides in
Wilmington, North Carolina, and Nashua, New
Hampshire.

Sixth, Thomas Hutchins, born September 27th,
1823; married Eliza Daniels, and resides in Worces-
ter, Mass.

Seventh, Abby R., born June 28th, 1825 ; married
Rodney M. Rollins, of Bedford, New Hampshire,
( where they now reside.

Eighth, Elisha E., bom November 17th, 182";
married Martha E. Fernald ; died in the army at
Fortress Munroe, June 22d, 1 J64, oi a wound

received just a week before, in a successful assault
on the enemy's works at Petersburg, Virginia.*

Ninth, Mary H., born November 20th, 1829;
married Mason Boyd, of Londonderry, New Hamp-
shire, where they now reside.

Tenth, Emeline A., born July 17th, 1832, and died
in Nashua, New Hampshire, October 26th, 1865.

FAMILY OF MALACHI F ., SECOND, ELDEST SON OF
MALACHI FOSTER DODGE.

Malachi F. Dodge, second, resides in Manchester,
New Hampshire; born in Eden, Vermont, January
8th, 1 8 1 5 ; married May, 1838, to Charlotte A.
Ober of Hopkinton, New Hampshire ; who was
born in Hopkinton, February, 1816, and died at
Nashua, New Hampshire, in 1841.

Infant son Harrison T., died August, 1841.

Malachi F., married again, June, 1842, with
Hannah P. Edwards, who was born in Springfield,
New Hampshire, May, 1820; and they have five

Dearborn, who was born in Corinth, Vermont,

October, 1846; married, August, 1868, to Harriet
A. Ashley, who was born in Hartford, Vermont,
April, 1848*.

Third, Willy H., resides in Manchester, New
Hampshire; born November, 1851, in Nashua, New
Hampshire; married August, 1875, to Susie M.
Elkins, who was born in Potten, Canada, June, 1853.

Fourth, James E., resides in Manchester, New
Hampshire; born March, 1854, in Londonderry,
New Hampshire; married October 1st, 1879, to
Helen G. Kimball, who was born in Manchester,
New Hampshire, December, 1854.

Fifth, Frank E., resides in Manchester, New
Hampshire, and was born in Londonderry, New
Hampshire, September, 1863.

MALACHI F. DODGE.

Sarah Jam; Dodge was born July 6th, 1818;
married November 17th, 1845,10 Frederick Plum-
mer Bixby, who was born October 14th, 181 1.
They now reside in Chelsea, Vermont, and have two
children, viz : —

First, Edward Henry Bixby, born August 1st,
1849. Now living in California.

Second, Emma Jane Bixby, born May 3rd, 1856;
and was married May 16th, 1878, to Herbert James
Moulton, who was born February 12, 1856. They
now reside in Chelsea, Vermont.

FAMILY OF DANIEL DARLING DODGE. THIRD SON
OF MALACHI FOSTER DODGE.

Daniel Darling Dodge was born June 28th,
1820; was married to Harriet Maria Wyman, April
loth, 1 841.

Daniel Dana, only child or Daniel Darling
Dodge, and his first wife, Harriet M. Wyman, was
born December 1st, 1841.

Daniel Darling Dodge married tor his second
wife, Janet Henderson Gay, August 1st, 1877, and
they have had one child, John Allen, b in A Vil-

mington, North Carolina, November iith, 1879,
since deceased.

FAMILY OF DANIEL DANA, ELDEST SOX OF DANIEL

DARLING DODGE.

Dana D. Dodge was born December 1st, 1841 ;
married Nancy E. Otterson, April 21st, 1864, in
Nashua, New Hampshire, where they now reside;
and thev have had four children, viz: —

First, Charlie, born in Nashua, New Hampshire,
June 30th, 1.866; died July 1st, 1866.

Second, Carrie Maria, burn in Nashua, New
Hampshire, December 24th, 1S67.

Third, Walter Dana, born in Nashua, New
Hampshire, June 12th, 1870.

Fourth, Herbert Otterson, born in Nashua,
New Hampshire, November 1 Sth, 1875.

FAMILY OF ABBY R., THIRD DAUGHTER OF
MALACHI FOSTER DODGE.

Abby R. Dodge was born June 28th, 1S25, and
married Rodney M. Rollins of Bedford, New Hamp-
shire, October 31st, 1848.

Mason Boyd, who was born in Londonderry, New
Hampshire, where they now reside, August 28th,
1S21 Their children are: —

First, Martha Jane, born February 25th, 1852.

where he now resides, in 1876.

Tenth, Almon, born in Crete, Illinois, December
15th, 1845; was married in Joliet, October 31st,
1 87 1, has one child, born in November, 1873. lie
resides in Wichita, Kansas.

FAMILY OF CATHERINE, DAUGHTER OF ENOCH

DODGE. 2nd.



Catherine Dodge was born in Eden, Vermont,
August 4th, 1819; married January 1st, 1841, in
Crete, Illinois, she has resided in Mi since

1855, and has had eleven children, nine of whom
are now living. Her issue is as follows: —

First, Albina, was horn in Crete, Illinois, January
26th, 1842. Has been married twice; her first
husband, Brooks, whom she married March 14th,
i860, was killed in the battle at Guntown, during
the late Civil War ; he was a member of the 9th
Minnesota Regiment. Had three children by her
hrst husband. Married tor her second husband, one
Johnson, by whom she had two children, only one
of whom survives.

Second, Submit, born May 4th, 1844, in Illinois;
married in Minnesota, has four children.

Third, Marion, died in infancy January 31st,
1846.

Fourth, Susan, born March 30th, 1847; married
in Illinois, where she now resides, October 27th,
1868. Has two children.

Fifth, Asa, born in Illinois, January 2nd, 1849;
married in Minnesota, where he now resides. Has
two children.

Sixth, Hiram, born March 24th, 1 S 5 1 ; married
in Crete, Illinois, December 17th, 1878.

Seventh, Carrie Littlk, born in Crete, Illinois,
May 20th, 18^3; married in Minnesota. Has three
children. Is now living in Kansas.

Eighth, Frank, born in Illinois, May 28th, 1855.
Is single, and resides in California.

Ninth, Fred. Little, born in Minnesota, October
8th, 1857. Resides with his parents.

Tenth, an infant daughter who died in 1858.

Frederick Dodge was born in Eden, Vermont,
bruary 22nd, 1823; married in Crete, Illinois,
January 1st, 1851, to Mary E. Gilbert, who was
born May 13th, 1829; died in Crete, Illinois,
December 5th, 1873. Their issue being as fol-

First, Maria, born October 1st, 1851.

Second, Julia, born September 3rd, 1853.

Third, Frank, born June 12th, 1856.

Mary Dodge was born June 10th, 1836, in
Eden, Vermont ; was married at Joliet, Illinois,
October 25th, 1855. Her issue is as follows: —

ried March 15th, 1876. Has one child.

FAMILY OF JANE DODGE, SIXTH CHILD OF ENOCH

DODGE, ist.

Jam- Dodge was born in New Boston, New
Hampshire, January 25th, iSoo; was married to
Daniel Cornish, in Eden, Vermont, December 6th,
1 821, Daniel Cornish was born in Simsbury,
Connecticut, October 26th, 1796. Their children
being : —

First, Hector D. Cornish, born in Eden, Ver-
mont, June 22nd, 1823; married to Jane Higley, in
DeWitt, New York, February 6th, 1 S46 ; died Sep-
tember 22nd, 1850.

Second, Mary [ane Cornish, born fanuary 25th,
1 831; married Albert Adams, in Eden, Vermont,

November 1st, 1S4S ; died September 26th, [862.*

Third, Mindwell T. Cornish, born March 3rd,
1S37; married in San Francisco, California, Decem-
ber iSth, 1 S6S, to Milo A. Burke; and they now
reside in Sacramento City, California. Have had one
child, born fanuary, 1879, and died June 9th, 1880.

Fourth, Harriet E. Cornish, born February 4th,
1841 ; married twice, first to Mr. Adams, and
second in Craftsbury, Vermont, September 15th,
1870, to Isaac Smith; and Jennie Smith her daugh-
ter, born June, 1871, is the only child she has living.

Fifth, Carlos H. Cornish, born May 21st, 1842;
married in Eden, Vermont, November 12th, 1871,
to Ella [. Bryant; and the) reside in Worcester,
Massachusetts ; and have had two children, Cora
Eliza, born June 19th, 1874; and Gertrude Ella,
born fanuary 28th, 1880.

Daniel Cornish married for his second wife,
Mary Dodge, sister of his first wife, October 1st,
1844, who died in Sacramento City, California,

OF ENOCH DODGE, ist.

Nathaniel C. Dodge was born in New Boston,
New Hampshire, May [ 8th, 1S02; and was married
to Abigail C. Ray more, in Eden, Vermont, January
5th, 1832. They now reside in Jeffersonville, Ver-
mont. Their children being : —

First, Mar JiN, born February 26th, 1833; died
March 4th, 1840.

Second, Loraina L. only daughter), born Decem-
ber 6th, 1S34; married to J. F. Wilcox, January
1st, 1856; and they have two children, Abbie D.,
burn in Cambridge, Vermont, July 1 6th, i860; and
Maria M., born in Cambridge, Vermont, October
ist, 1873.

Third, Martin X., born in Eden, Vermont,
August 1st, 1S40; and married to Charlotta A.
Barnes, March 5th, 1S62.

Fourth, F. H. Dodge, born in Cambridge, Ver-
mont, October 4th, 1 851; and married to Mary II.
Lamplough, October 13th, 1S74; and they have one
child, Frankie N., born in Cambridge, Vermont,
October 1 3th, 1 876.

The foregoing brief Genealogical History of one
branch of the "Dodge Family' has been prepared
after much labor and research, and is submitted with
the hope that it will stimulate the various men/_:r£
of the general family in collecting all facts and in-
formation within their knowledge or reach to be
transmitted to the undersigned, who will see that the

ne is duly forwarded to the Publishing Committee
appointed at the meeting of the "Dodge Family," in
Salem, Massachusetts, July 10th, 1879; and which
Committee, as I am informed, are engaged in pre-
paring a full and complete history of the "Dodge
Family." In conclusion, I will suggest that all
members of the family collect and compile in suita-
ble form for preservation, not only the names, dates
of birth, marriages and deaths, but full particulars as
to professions, avocations, ccc, so that in the future
such facts and incidents can be published, and thus
preserved for the perusal and instruction of the
succeeding generations of the family to which we
belong.
