Anne Baker did pennance March 26, 1682: publickly. The said
Anne Baker layd a Foundation of the Towne Stocks which was
sevenpounds payd by John Pindar of Hutton Cranswicke, who was
supposed to have gott the said Anne Baker with child, & was Fined
sevenpound by M' John Estoffe, and M' Toby Hodson, Justicers :

Memoranded, to prevent prescription or composition of the
Kirkeleys Anno 1684. The Tythe hay of y« Kirkeleys was sold to D*"
Johnson for eight shillings, and in the year 1685, the tythe of y* said
hay alone, was sold for ten shillings, and in 1683 for ten shitt, &
for ten shillings, so the composition charged putts & makes
voyd all pretences to Annuall composition, or prescription ot custome.

Memoranda upon Sunday about half a quarter of an houre before
foure a clocke in y* afternoone was a mighty pulsation of y* earth, or
Earthquake which resembled the sound of a canon, with a rumbling
noise going before it, which laste* but a moment of time. It caused
buildings to shake, and y^ earth to tremble or shake in this Towne.

Register book for Marriages of Such as are to bee published for
marriages within the pish of Cherryburton, containing in it, there
Names, and Sirnames, the dayes and years, when they were
published from the 21* of octobe' 1653 And so consequently
every ye^re as followet.

Anno 1654:
John Johnson late Vicar of Bp* Burton was inducted in the
Rectory of Cherryburton Apr: 28, 1681.

Memoranda
Upon Friday the first day of July 1681

John Simon Masoner, & George Pease Carpenter with the
Assistance of William Richardson and Thomas Elfing, all inhabitants
of Cherry Burton, did surveigh The Chancell of Cherryburton church,
and also the Parsonage house, Barnes, Stable, and Outhouses
Belonging to the Rectory of Cherryburton, in order to a just
valuation of the dilapidations from the death of M^ Thomas Gayton
late Incumbent to the Induction of M' John Johnson the present
Incumbent, who was inducted Apr: 28, 1681, into the said Rectory.

And the said John Simon: George Pease, W" Richardson &
Thomas Elfing upon view of the premises According to the best of
theire Judgment, do value the dilapidations of the said Quire &
Parsonage house, with the Appendages to amount to thirty pounds,
to make the house secure for habitation, and in Testimony have
hereunto subscribed.

in the pish church of Chirryburton at the close of the morning
exercise: and noe person alledged anie thing to the Contrarie.

The same was againe published the sixteenth of Aprill as abovesaid

A marriage intended to bee had betwixt Jonathan Bourne of
Cherryburton grasseman, the sonne of Tho: Bourne of the same
Towne aged foure and twentie, and Elizabeth Wardall daughter of
Richard Wardall of Cottingham aged twentie thre was on the 26^^ of
november published in the pish Church of Cherryburton, at the close
of the morning exercise, ^d no pson alledged anie thing to the
contrarie.

The Same was againe published as aboves*^ the 3^ day of december
next afse^ and noe pson alledged any thing to the contrary.

The same was againe published as above s^ the 10*^ of december
and no pson alledged any thing to the contrarie.

*Bee It therefore remembered y* the abovenamed parties Jonathan
Bourne and Elizabeth Wardall were on the twentie eighth of

A marriage intended to bee had betwixt wittm Raley sonne of
John Raley of Cherryburton husbandman aged twentie one yeares and
Anne Ayer daughter of Henry Ayer of Ellerk"^ within the pish of
Brantingam Aged twentie yeares, was on the sixth day of May
published in the pish Church of Cherryburton, at the close of the
morning exercise & no pson alledged anie thing to the contrarie.

The same pties weere againe published as abovesaid the 13*** day
of may and no bodie alledged anie thing to the Contrarie.

The same pties, weere agane published the 20^ day of May as
abovesd and no bodie alledged anie thing to the Contrarie.

Bee it therefore remembered y* wm Raley was marryed to the
above named Anne Ayer the fifth day of June 1655 att Etton in the
presence of by me J. Canlabye.

aged 30 yeares and Elizabeth Walker daughter of John Walker of

pish church at Cherryburton alToresd the 15^ day Of July in the year
of o' Lord 1655 at the close of the forenowne exercise. The same,

therefore remembered that Thomas Hessey And Elizabeth Walker
