^The only Walton with which it
is possible to identify this is Walton
D'Eiville in Warwickshire, close to
the Fosseway. The archb. had
been at Oddington the day before



(no. 1483), and, eight days later'
was at Laneham (no. 65). His
obvious route was by the Fosseway
to Newark, and W'aiton was proba-
bly his first stage from Oddington.

^Godfrey Giffard had been arch-
deacon of York for a short time
(Rcf;. Giffard. no. 590) before
l3ccoming bishop of Worcester.
