until the privilege granted to the archb. by pope Nicholas iv
of providing four of his clerks to such benehces had been
exercised. The date of this privilege was, Orvieto, 6 idus
March, i^ Nicholas iv (March 2, 1287-8).

Pikering and Jolin Clarell, canons of York, Beverley and
SouthvveU, to provide, at the archb. 's nomination, four of
