in Dimmsville, Pa.), son of Henry and Catherine (Wilt) Dimm, a
grandson of Christopher Dimm and of Adam Wilt; a great-grandson

of John Dimm and of Alichael Wilt. On Jan. 25, 1772, Michael Wilt
purchased the old Leonard Pfoutz tract of land in what is now Green-
wood Township, Juniata County, Pa., and conveyed it on Sept. 7, 1773,
to Adam Wilt of Bethel Township, Lancaster County, Pa. A portion
of the property afterwards passed to Catherine (Wilt) Dimm, wife of
Henry Dimm who settled thereupon in 1805 and died there Oct. 10,
1846, aged 70 years. About 1835 his sons John, James and Samuel
purchased the Cargill grist-mill, afterwards owned and operated by
John Thompson Dimm — 7161. The pioneer of the Dimm family in
Pennsylvania was John Dimm who was said to have come from Ger-
many about the year 1650 and settled in Philadelphia and later in
Berks County where he died. His son Christopher Dimm settled in
Luzerne County, Pa., near the present site of Wilkes-Barre. His son
Henry Dimm married Catherine Wilt and settled in what is now
Greenwood Township, Juniata County, Pa. John Dimm, the son of
Henry and Catherine (Wilt) Dimm, operated a farm and a saw-mill
in Greenwood Township and was appointed the first postmaster at
Dimmsville, a village in that township named for the family. From
1852 to 1857 he served as associate judge of the court of common
pleas in Juniata County. — "History of Juniata and Susquehanna Val-

was a merchant, miller and postmaster at Dimmsville, Pa., and in
1884 was elected county commissioner. He married Sarah Ann Castle
(born Apr., 1831, at Dimmsville, Pa. ; died May 21, 1906, at Dimms-
ville), daughter of David and Mary (Sellers) Castle, and grand-

Gilfillen, Sr., served in the Revolution under Captain Jonathan Robeson
