(ii)— Peter Thomson (called Uncle Peter), born , 1776, two

miles from the present site of Thompsontown, at the home of John
Thomson, the Pioneer; died Nov. 3, 1831. According to his will in
1779, Pioneer John Thomson gave all of his lands to his sons James,
Thomas and Peter. What became of the interests of James we do
not know definitely, but Thomas, who evidently lived with his brother
Peter, died a bachelor and willed his share of the home farm to
Peter. At that time the farm contained 433 acres. In 1810 Peter
Thomson erected on the old family farm, about 40 rods north of the
site of the homestead of Pioneer John Thomson, the stone dwelling
house in which most of his nine children were born. This house is
still in existence. At the death of Peter Thomson, his son John
Peter bought the interests of the other heirs and kept the home-
stead until 1865 when it was sold to Judge Samuel Hepburn, who
sold it to Uriah Shuman, the present owner. It is stated that the
property passed from the control of John P. Thompson as the result
