F2474 Benjamin T. Locke, born in Barrington, Sept. 9,
1835, married in New Durham, May 24, i860, Agnes LaBounty,
born in Canada in 1838, daughter of John and Julia. He en-
listed in Co. L, 1st Reg. Cavalry, was captured and spent six
weeks in Libbey Prison. He returned home but soon re-enlisted
and went with Sheridan as Sergeant of Cavalry. He was shot
from ambush and fell dead from his horse at Kearneysville, Va.,

of Alexandria, was a farmer, a Democrat, and one of the leading

F2591 George Locke, twin, born in Alexandria, Feb. 12, 1816,
married in Concord, July 31, 1845, Sabra Kimball, born in
East Concord, Oct. 21, 1817, died in Manchester, Jan. 2, 1892,
daughter of Moses and Cynthia (Eastman). At the age of ten
he began working for neighbor farmers, and in 1839 he started
in the painting business. From 1846-9 he was engaged in
painting Phillips Andover Academy buildings and from 1868-
78 was employed by the Manchester mills as painter; retiring
from active work about 1890. During his entire life he was a
most devout Christian, doing an immense amount of lay work
among the sick and old. In 1890 the compiler and Mr. Locke
got into communication in regard to holding annual meetings
of the Locke's, and with his leisure, he was able to interest
people, so that the meetings became a reality. His age,
knowledge of the older Lockes, together with considerable
material of his own ancestors, has been of great help to the
compiler of this genealogy. He died in Manchester, Sept. 25,

1903.
