77-11. He was a California pioneer of 1849, returned and
was a plumber in South Boston. He is well remembered as
one of our most zealous workers in the early reunions of the
Lockes.

F3067 Joshua Locke, born in Limerick, Me,, Oct. 25, 1805,
married Sept. 15, i860, Jane L. Wadleigh, born June 10, 1826,
lived in Saco, 1908, daughter of Moses and Sarah. He was a
traveler for forty-five years, during twenty-five of which he was
in the U. S. Navy. He was three years in the Holy Land, a
number of years with Dr. Livingstone in Africa, served through
the Mexican War. Late in life he returned and settled down as a
farmer in Buxton, Me., where he died Apl. 2, 1886.

181 1, died Oct. 24, 1864, married ist, Lydia Hews, who died
Oct. 1834; married 2nd, Anna H. Jenkins of Hudson, N. Y. He
started for California in 1849 but stopped at Milwaukee and
engaged in business. In 1851 he again started for California,
wintered in Salt Lake City, and arrived at his destination in 1852.

ces May Carpenter, was divorced 1893; m. 2nd, 1895, i\L\RY
Jane (Gregory) Marshall. He is proprietor of St. Charles
Hotel, San Francisco, and had: 6456 Frank, died young; 6457
Royal William, who m. and had three girls.

F3071 Jesse Albert Locke, born i\pl. 2, 181 8, died Aug. 20,

1884, married Aug. 14, 1845, Sarah B. Cooledge, born Jan. 20,

1824, daughter of John and Mary, and grand-daughter of Joseph

Cooledge who was killed at Lexington, Apl. 19, 1775. He lived

in Limerick, Me., for some time and fifteen years in Portland.

He then moved to Boston where he served several terms in the

Legislature, and finally went to New York City, where he was a

promoter of several enterprises.
