2nd, Aleck Lear. Jonathan sailed in the Privateer "Ports-
mouth" under Capt. Sam Seavey, was captured and died of
smallpox in Dartmoor prison.

F292 Richard Locke, born in Rye Sept. 4, 1744, married
March 1767, Huldah Hobbs, dau. of Jonathan and Mary
(Berry). She born Jan. 12, 1746, died Dec. 20, 1828. Sept.
5, 1757, he bought land in Rye; Aug. 30, 1769, he sold all rights
in his father's and grandfather's estate in Rye to Benj. Garland.
He enlisted as private in the 2nd N. H. Reg., May 29, 1775,
and later in the 3rd; served almost continuously until Jan. 27,
1780, when he was discharged. He lived in Rye, but died in
Northwood, Oct. 20, 1823.

ball going in at the elbow and coming out at the shoulder Sept.
19) 1777- Was a Revolutionary pensioner, lived at Rye and in
Grafton Co.) Joshua was at Cambridge in the Revolutionary
War, was in Col. Poore's Co. at Crown Point July 8, 1776, in
Capt. Calve's Co. Jan. 24, 1777, and was a corporal at New
Castle Fort in 1777. He lived in Rye, and died before 1797.

Neck, and died Apl. 22, 1790.

1st, Sarah Jones, Sept. 29, 1769, who died Apl. 29, 1795. He
married 2nd, Aug. 18, 1796, Thankful Blazo who was his
widow in 1801. He took the oath of allegiance in 1776, enlisted
in Capt. Blodgett's Co. May 19, 1777. In his will dated Apl.
30, 1801, he mentions only his wife Thankful and son Jere-
miah. He lived in Rye and died May 5, 1801.

Jan. 4, 1778, Mehitable Higgins of Greenland who was born
Feb. 10, 1758. He settled in Wakefield where his children were
born, and died there Feb. 16, 18 14, a farmer and tanner. Wal-
pole, N. H., records say, "Polly Muzzey of Walpole married
May 10, 1803, Jacob Locke." This is possibly a second wife
but I doubt its being this Jacob. (There was an unknown
Jacob Locke in Vermont.)

F343 Rev. Simon Locke, born in Rye, Sept. 20, 1752,
married in Barrington March 29, 1774, Lydia Foss, who was
born Dec. 19, 1752, died Nov. 11, 1855, aged 103. He was in

Senter's expedition to Rhode Island, enlisted in Capt. Parsons'
Co. Aug. 14, 1777; was a pensioner in 1831 at $20 per year.
He was in Barrington until 1782 when he went through the
wilderness on horseback to Lyman, Me., where he built a one
windowed house. He preached in the Lyman and HoUis churches
forty-nine years, baptized 1200 people, married 835 couples,
officiated at 1325 funerals, and preached 9800 sermons. He
died Sept. i, 1831.

F395 Jesse Locke, born in Block Island, R. I., Jan. 21, 1768.
He settled in Oxford, Chenango County, X. Y., and after mar-
riage in 1800 went to Cincinnatus, Cortland Co., N. Y. He
surveyed Aladison Co., X. Y., with five men in 1792, and received
$2.00 per day; they received $5.00 per month. He was Sheriff
of Chenango Co., 1801-05, Loan Commissioner 1808, and Repre-
sentative to the New York Assembly, 18 10. He was accidentally
killed Nov. 15, 1813, at Cincinnatus, by the discharge of a gun
held in the hands of a "fellow in an adjoining room."
