Brunswick, born 1793, died Jan. 3, 1821; married 2nd, her
sister, Charlotte Stevens. He was a mariner in early life,
was captured by the English in the 1812 War and confined in a
West India prison. After his release he settled in New Bruns-
wick, where he engaged in the lumber business, and died March,

1870.

Was in battle of Newport News, Youngsville, Lees Mills, Siege
of Yorktown, was taken sick and sent to hospital, returned in
time for the Seven Days' battle, Williamsburg, White Oak
Swamp, Malvern Hill, night march to Harrison Landing, and
back to Yorktown; was sent to Beaumont, N. C, then to South
Carolina, and to Florida; was at Morris Island, siege of Charles-
town (N. C), and in smaller skirmishes.

Child: 1374 Mary D. Locke Merrill, who m. Hahneman
Best, proprietor of the Quincy House, Enosburg Falls, Vt.

F485 Joanna Locke, born in Falmouth, Me., Jan. 7, 1807,
married Sept. 13, 1835, Ebenezer Locke, # 1297, born Nov. 12,
1805. She died in Portland, Me., May 23, 1899, aged 92. He
went to sea at the age of 12 with his father, became captain of a
merchantman, and died at Falmouth, Nov. 21, 1844.

F502 Tristram Locke, born in HoUis, Me., Oct. 19, 1771,
married Elizabeth Lord of Gardner. (Maine Historical
Record says, "Anna, daughter of James and Eliz. Lord.) They
joined the Hollis Church, but he was a carpenter in Hallowell,
and died June 2, 1832.

March 17, 1802, Sarah Frost Clarke, daughter of Nathanial
and Sarah Pepperell (Frost), who was born in Kittery, March
4, 1781, died Sept. i, 1851. She was the 4th Gen. from Andrew
Pepperell and 5th from Major Charles Frost of Kittery, killed
by Indians July 4, 1697. He was one of the first townsmen
of Hollis, where he lived ad a farmer and died Aug. 9, 1857.

F505 Samuel Locke, born in HolHs, Me., Aug. 16, 1784, mar-
ried in Ipswich, Mass., Oct. 16, 1812, Mrs. Elizabeth (Stan-
wood) Waite, who was born in Ipswich, Sept. 29, 1781, died in
Hallowell, Apl. 15, 1850. By her first husband she had Eunice
Hale Waite, who married Rev. Sylvanus Cobb. Samuel was
a very able school teacher and mathematician, lived in Hallowell,
Me., and died in Stillwater, Mich., Sept. 9, 1873.

1806. He was baptized Sept. 21, 1766. They were sons of
Francis and Mary (Marston) and lived in North Hampton.

b. Sept. 15, 1 82 1, son of Simon and Ann (Sherburne). He was
a carpenter, had 6 children, and later he m. Mrs. Miri.\m P.\lmer
Dunbar.

F508 Benjamin Veazie Locke, born in Effingham, N. H.,
May 12, 1765, married Nov. 27, 1790, Olive Robinson, daugh-
ter of Squire James, of Epping. She was born in 1772, died
May 7, 1849. OHve married 2nd, Obadiah French a Revolu-
tionary soldier. Benjamin came from New Hampshire and
settled on the wild lands of Mount Vernon, Me., as a farmer and
there he died Jan. 18, 1810, being overcome by the cold.

1478 Sally R., b. July 28, 1792, m. Oct. 17, 1815, James Whittier of
