ERE FACE.



THE object of the present List is to give a complete Cata-
logue of the specimens of the Order Gallinae or Gallinaceous
Birds contained in the Collection of the British Museum,
indicating the locality and the source whence each has been
derived. With this view the different individuals of each
contained in the Collection are indicated by the letters
fly 6, f, etc. following the name of the species and its sy-
nonyms.

At the same time the List exhibits, by notes at the end
of each genus, those species that are at present desiderata
to the Collection.

Adult. Front and occipital crest elongate, hirsute and white,
with the shafts only brownish black ; upper part of hind neck
white mixed with black, with a line of black between the latter
and that of the naked (blue ?) space, this latter ends in a long
slender pendulous caruncle ; breast and smaller wing-coverts
green glossy black, each feather margined on the sides with
white ; greater wing-coverts white, tipped with brownish black.

greenish and bluish bronze, with the five lateral feathers tipped

Like 0. canicollis, Wagl., but is of a lighter colour on the back.

eye brown ; sides of upper neck and feathers on mentum grey,
with black shafts ; breast greyish olive, lower part mixed with
deep rufous feathers ; abdomen, sides, thighs, under tail-coverts,
and the tips of four outer tail-feathers deep rusty red ; upper
surface of tail greenish seneous.

Length 26" 6'", wings 10" 6'", tarsi 3".

near the base of each feather. Cere black.
