in Boston; Hiram P. (Mackintosh), b. Nov. 11, i860; a bookkeeper in
Newburyport; Frederick L. (Mackintosh), b. Feb. 23, 1867.

839 Ann Brown (Lunt), b. Feb. 11, 1833; d. June 26, 1845.

840 Stephen,* b. July 31, 1801 ; m., March 28, 1832, Harriet Perkms ; she d. June
24, 1839. He was a successful merchant for a number of years in New-
buryport ; failed by the wrecking of a ship in which he was interested, and
indorsing for friends. In 1849 went to California, but did not succeed. He
was in Haywood, Cal., assisting to draw a wild bullock mto the slaughter-
house, when the windlass pall gave out and threw him over it. Broke his
wrist badly, and had his arm amputated ; it mortified, and was taken off a
second time close to the shoulder, and lockjaw closed his life, Sept. 9, 1859.

842 Caroline E.,' afterward went by the name of Caroline Perkins, b. Feb. 7,

1835; rn- Fred B. Dodge. They live in Toledo, O. ; 4 children.
843 Mary,* b. Sept. 6, 1803; m., Nov. 11, 1S47, Philip Lord of Newburyport, as
his second wife. No children by this marriage.

the preceding, and daughter of John and Eunice (Dole) Thurston of
Newbury, Mass.; born there April 23, 1779; married, Nov. 28, 1799,
Richard Jaques, born Feb. 4, 1771. She died Aug. 31, 1836; he
died Dec. 30, 185 1. He was a farmer in Newbury, Mass. ; members
of the Presbyterian church.

844 William (Jaques), b. Dec. 7, 1800; m.\ May 3, 1825, Elizabeth Savory of New-
bury, b. March 23, 1801. He was a tanner in Newbury, Mass., united with
the Cong, church, Apr. 3, 1828 ; was a prominent member, highly esteemed
and beloved by all. He d. Oct. 14, 1832; shed. May 3, 1876. They had:

1806, da. of Caleb and Sarah (Mason) Ilsley of Hampton, N. H. He is
a farmer in Newbury. Mass., and celebrated his 8oth "birthday by attending
the first national Thurston gathering held in Newburyport, Mass., June 24
and 25, 1885. He had, by ist wife Harriet:

Churchill, son of Wm. and Sarah Jane (Sedgwick) Churchill of Hart-

859 Stephen (Plumer), b. Jan. 18, 1S07 ; m.. May 24, 1838, Mary Hale Newman,
b. Mar. i, 1813, da. of Samuel and Phebe (Hale), Newman of Newbury-
port, Mass. They were both members of the first Presbyterian church in
Newburyport, as were their three eldest daughters. He d. Apr. 25, 1S46,
and his widow moved from Newbury to Newburyport in 1851. Their chil-

b. Feb. 13, 1829, son of Elias and Ann Greenleaf (Horton) Todd of

861 Eunice Thurston (Plumer), b. Aug. 16, 1841 ; m., May i, 1867, Rev. Geo.

Robert Merrill, b. Dec. 26, 1845, son of Robert and Ann Sawyer (Bab-
son l Merrill of Newburyport. He grad. from Amherst 1865, in Bangor
Theo. Sem., and on a mission to Virginia 1866, and graduated from
Rochester Seminary 1S67, ordained in Henrietta, N. J., Jan. 2, 1S67,
where he remained till 1870; at Medina, N. Y., till 1873; at Adrian,
Mich., till 1876, as editor of the Fellowship, a Congregational paper; at
Biddeford, Me., till 1879, ^"^ at Painesville, O., since, where his wife
d. Nov. 29, 1883. They had: John Ernest (Merrill), b. in Medina,
May 9, 1872; George Plumer (Merrill), b. in Adrian, Mar. 24, 1874;
Abbie Mary (Merrill), b. in Biddeford, Oct. i6< 1877.

862 Mary Newman (Plumer), b. Dec. 21, 1843; a teacher in the state normal

school in Salem, Mass., and member of St. Peter's Epis. church.
