marked success till 1877, when he engaged in the sale of agricultural
implements in Shelbyville. Beginning with the small capital he had
saved by teaching, has been highly favored, and not only attained a
decided lead in his line of business, but has acquired several fine
farms in the vicinity, considerable town property, and built a fine
large mansion on one of the principal streets in the city for the home

Shakespeare's praise of Brutus, we may say

His life so useful ; and the elements

So mix'd in him that Nature might stand up

And say to all the world. This is a man !
