THE THOMAS SANFORD FAiULT

Mr. Beecher lived for some years on a farm on the road from
Hopkinton to Potsdam, about a mile south of Beechertown. his early
home, and then moved to the farm next south of that of Jonah
Sanford (the only house on that cross road). About 1902, he
sold this place and bought a home in Hopkinton Village. He was
a good carpenter and did much of that work when farm duties
were not pressing. He stood six feet or more, large, heavy man,
had a fine pleasant face, very modest and retiring, kind, hospitable,
and as upright and honest a man as the author has ever known.
He never wronged anyone. In his later years he was quite
succeessful in trapping foxes. He was surely a noble man.

He had three children by first and five by second marriage,
all born in Hopkinton, N. T.
