born in 1834; she died in Illinois in 1855. He married
third, at Lowell November 10, 1857, Eunice Matilda,
daughter of Charles and Rachel Warren, of Groton, aged
27. She died in January, 1870.
He was a boot and shoe maker at various centers of
the business. In 1855 went to Illinois, planning to buy
a farm; but the death of his (second) wife broke up the
plan, and he came back east. Again in 1867 he tried
farming at Orange, N. H., for a year. He built a house in
North Bridgewater in 1872, and in 1876 bought a farm in
the same place, where he spent the rest of his life.
He died at Brockton (formerly North Bridgewater)
September 2, 1890.

He was a planter in Sumter, an elder in the Presby-
terian church. He was captain of Company K in the 24th
South Carolina Infantry in the army of the Southern
Confederacy, and served in Virginia. ''His later life
was devoted to repairing the losses he had suffered by the
war." He died October 10, 1886.

of Hon. Francis Faulkner, of Acton, born September 27,
1772, died January 23, 1819. He married second,
February 9, 1820, Hannah Faulkner, sister of Lois, who
was born in 1776 and died September 20, 1841. He mar-
ried third, August 2, 1842, Mrs. Clarissa Lothrop, of
Augusta, Me., who outlived him, spent her last years at
Augusta with her son by former marriage, and died there
in 1774.
He bought a farm at Solon, Me., in 1801; the title
proving defective, he bought another farm at Norridge-
wock. Me., on the south side of the Kennebec river, ex-
tending nearly a mile along the river, including the site
of the railroad yard of a much later day. This was ac-
quired by several purchases. From this he afterward
gave lots for the village academy and the parsonage of
Rev. Josiah Peet.
When the Congregational church was organized in
1797 he was one of the twenty-four members. Was a
deacon and an active force for good in the community.
He was treasurer of the county as well as of the town. He
owned a tannery. He was president of a temperance
society before the days of laws against the evil of intoxica-
tion. He was a representative to the legislature in 1812.
He died December 9, 1850.

remainder of his life there.
