John Cabell (1742- 181 5) was chairman of the Buckingham Com-
mittee of Safety and was appointed county lieutenant and
chief commander of the militia. He was a member of the
House of Delegates and of the Convention of 1776, and one

of four patriot brothers who rendered civil and military service
during the Revolution. He was born in Goochland County ;
died in Buckingham County, Va.

Ezra Downer, who had served in the early wars, volunteered in
the Revolution in the Connecticut Line. He became unfit for
active duty and his only son Eliphalet took his place. He
died, 1805, in Geneva, N. Y.

Benjamin Bosworth (1733-1810) served as major in the militia.
He contributed half the indemnity when the British fleet
threatened to bombard the town. He was born and died in
Bristol, R. I.

of the Ammunition wagon. He was born in Bristol, R. I.;
died in Pittstown, N. Y.
Christopher Mason, Jr. (1738- 1805), was a member of the Gen-
eral Court for twenty years. He served as a minute man at
the Rock Island Alarm. He was born and died in Swanzey.
