He was detailed to bring home the body of Montgomery, who

was killed at Quebec. He died in Poughkeepsie, N. Y.

in Bristol, Conn. ; died in Wyoming, Pa.

Ebenezer Steele (1727-1825) served in the defense of New
York under Capt. Abraham Sedgewick. He was born and
died in Hartford County, Conn.

Josiah Steele (1758-1825) enlisted for three years; was at the
Danbury raid and the battle of Monmouth. He was placed
on the pension roll of Hartford County, 1818.

Moses Andrews (1722- 1806), who had served in the early wars,
was a patriot during the Revolutionary War. His wife, Lydia
Root Andrews, was one of the patron saints of Connecticut.

Samuel Andrews (1749-76) was a private in the New York-
campaign and died in service. His youngest brother Nathaniel
took his place.
