in a vessel and sailed for New York City ; was taken sick and
f urloughed ; re-enlisted, 1777, under Capt. Elias Williams,
Col. Thomas Belden. He was born in Weathersfield, Conn. ;
died in Chester, Mass.

visited Haverhill. 1789, he escorted the President to Worces-
ter. A remembrance was sent him later, with these lines,
"'When this you see remember an old soldier," Geo. Wash-
ington. He was born in Londonderry, N. H. ; died in Haver-
hill Mass.
