Moses McFarland (1738-1802) commanded a company of Mas-
sachusetts militia at Bunker Hill, where he was lamed for life.
He was transferred to the invalid regiment. 1779. and was
brevetted major at the close of the war. When Washington
visited Haverhill. 1789, he escorted the President to Worces-
ter. A remembrance was sent him later, with these lines,
"'When this you see remember an old soldier," Geo. Wash-
ington. He was born in Londonderry, N. H. ; died in Haver-
hill Mass.
