place; sometimes too quiet on weekends yet offering quite a lot to students who seek, a mass ofl
individuals in tweeds, corduroy, knits and fake fur, bluejeans, sweatshirts and bellbottoms. com-
muters, dorm residents and apartment dwellers; enjoying movies, dances, night spots and ai
pecan orchard near ruleville. a variety of moods — firelight pep rallies, biology labs and shak-<
espeare classes, and a smoke-filled, crowded student center, a beautiful setting around an oak'-
lined quadrangle, new and remodeled classrooms providing a learning environment. usuaUyt
beautiful weather, a number of rainy fridays and an occasional snow; but that never keeps us outlj
of class, we have fine traditions and an excellent administration for a young college soon to be ai

university, as students we do not violently protest war, women's rules or student power; although
we are not apathetic, we respect authority, but abhor "red tape." change is a factor in our hves.
delta state is now something more than just the "friendliest school in dixie;" computerized, yes,
but not impersonalized by a longshot. guidance and real interest from the faculty, provide new
courses in black history and three-dimensional design, graduate degrees and a chance to play in
the memorial stadium, we will always need: later hours, student aid, parking places, cultural
events, better food, pop concerts and a bigger budget for the broom, we recognize needs and
strive to meet them, this is a part of education as vital as byron or dewey, pasteur or keats. we
have learned a lot here, a year too quickly gone but still affecting our Uves.
