CANAL ZONE

A tip from a friend down at Balboa, which is not bad advice
at all.

"To get located in a place in Latin America, if you don't
know, inquire carefully as to the 'best hotel in the place where
all the American tourists go.' Make a careful note of it, and
keep away from that place; it's probably a sucker trap. Then
inquire as to the next best place, in case the 'good hotel' is all
filled up. That is the place to go. There might be a couple
of Number 2 places find out."

The "South American Handbook" is the "Bible" of the in-
formed Latin American traveler. Published annually and costs
$1.00.

Get water you know is good or boil the bad water. There
is nothing sure about magic pills dropped into impure drinking
water.

Get typhoid and smallpox shots in advance.
