Benjamin Hutchinson b.27FEB1760

Since Israel Hutchinson served as Step-father to Phoebe's children by her first husband,
Daniel Benjamin, there was much influence as evidenced by Elizabeth Darrow(#338-5 #169)
naming her second son after step-brother, Elisha Hutchinson.
.. (338-3) Phoebe moved with her husband, Ebenezer, to Old Chatham(4 mi. E of Chatham) in
the Red Rock area of Columbia County, FY around 1774. He had served as a private in the

against Crown Point. During the American Revolutionary Var he had served as a Lieutenants
and Captain in the 5th Co., 17th Reg. Albany Co. FY Militia(Rev Pen #S-12151).

. . Heim^ served with Elijah Eaton(also his guardian) during the Revolutionary War in the
Seventh Regiment of the Albany County ITY Militia under Capt. Arron Ostrander.
Jeremiah Mott also served in the Seventh Regiaient. He was living in Columbia County,
NY in 1790. In the 1800 Cherry Valley, Otsego Co., NY Census he is probably the same
Jeremiah Mott over 45 yrs. of age - possibly a brother/cousin to Henry & Deliverance 4
living not far from Elijah Eaton. Jeremiah was probably the son of Gershom 4 Elizabeth
Mott (b. 25AUG1731 Canterbury Twp. , Windham County, Connecticut).
..Another passible relative includes: Abel Mott (b. 22FEB 1736 Wallingford, New Haven
County, Connecticut) son of Samuel & Sarah Mott. He was living in Columbia County, New
York in 1790.
Possible ancestor to all is Jeremiah Mott of Westerly, Washington County, RI & who had
married Margaret d/o Shubael Painter 4 moved to Wallingford, CT. Their children were
born between 1718 & 1738: Mary, Eliz. , Jonathan, Saml., Elizabeth II, Eunice, Adam, 4
Lent. Another is Samuel d. 1745/6 who married Sarah Gie? with children born 1736-40:
Abel, Ezekial, 4 Comfort (others?) .
Their ancestor may have been Adam Mott of Portsmouth, RI whose descendants settled in
Kingstown 4 Westerly, Washington County, RI with children born 1621-40: John, Adam,
Jonathan, Elizabeth, Jacob, Eleazor.
Another Adam Mott of the same time period(1600-1700) settled on Long Island 4 was
probably closely related to Adam of Portsmouth, RI. His 1681 NY will named children:
Adam, James, Grace, John, Joseph, Gershom, Henry, 4 wife Elizabeth.
Also note: Nathaniel Mott ml656 Hannah Shooter 4 lived in New Shoreham, RI with
children born 1657-1675 4 lived in Scituate, Providence Co., RI: Nathaniel, John, Edward,
mary, Lydia, Samuel, Eliz, Experience, 4 Ebenezer.

The 1782 Varwlck, RI Census shows both Josiah Sr, St Josiah Jr. living side by side.
Josiah Jr. 4 wife Lois sold 21!* acres of land in Warwick to Anne Bennett (#347) 3i this is
probably the same land that Josiah Sr. purchased in 1774 implying that Josiah Sr. was no
longer alive, however a Josiah Stone was active in Warwick from 1796 to 1825 with many
land transactions St was one of the creditors mentioned in the final estate of Benjamin
Stone (d. 1799). In addition he S a Joseph Bennett took the inventory for the Benj . Stone
estate (James Carder, Administrator).
In 1800, Josiah received monies from Warwick to house Henry Straight (An Abigail Stone
b. 1751 m Daniel Straight). In the 1800 Warwick EI Census he had a male over 45 living j
with him 4 was living next to Caleb Westcott.
Land transactions in Warwick included: 1796 sale to James Westcott, 1798 sale to Dutee
