..St. Paul's Parish records also mention the marriage of an Elizabeth Seaton to John
Lowry on 23APR1726.

..Grace Clements was the daughter of David & Isabelle Clements. Before marriage to James
Seaton Sr. , she had been widowed by Nicholas Dounton.

.. (76«) Janes Sr.s ancestors seem to be of Scottish origins who probably came to Virginia,
after fighting on the wrong side with the Stuarts against the English. One thought as to i
the name is that the Seaton' s lived in a town by the sea or possibly owned lands
including a town by the sea. In fact there are towns in ITorthern & Southern Scotland
bearing the name 'Seatown'. Other Scottish variations of the name include; Seton,
Sefton, Seyton, etc.

There may also be a lorman connection with the marriage of Alexandre de Seton (a
descendant of a family living in Sai, ITormandy in the 11th Century & descendant of Sir
Christopher of Seton-captured at the Battle of Methven in 1306 by the English 4 taken to
London for execution) to a sister of Robert Bruce (King Robert I of Scotland).

Our line could be descended from any of the Seaton families that populated the
Southeast Scottish border counties or neighboring English border counties.

According to Hotten' s ship arrival records, John Seaton, age 19, was the first to
arrive in Virginia from London on the ship 'Globe', 6AUG1635. This John could have been
the son of Sir David Seaton of Pribroath.

A likely descendant of John seaton was George seaton who in 1662 patented 6,000 acres
of land on the Potomac River in what is now Stafford County, Virginia but was then
Westmoreland County. In the 1673 will of Hugh Uevelle of Gloucester County, George
Seaton is named executor but was deceased by OCT1680 when the will was probated. Thus
George is perhaps the grandfather to James Seaton Sr. A likely candidate for (Jeorge's
son 4 James's father is the Bayly Seaton of Gloucester County mentioned in a 1744 deed.
