. . (1526) George, according to one tradition, was kidnapped while walking along the coast
in Northern Vales & studying a law book by a press gang. He was sold into servitude for
eight years to a Virginia planter. He was treated harshly 8i forced to sleep on the
^â– hearthstones in the kitchen of his master's home. After eight years of servitude, he
/returned to England, completed his law studies, & was admitted to the bar.
In Virginia, he was a member of the Virginia House of Burgesses (Assembly) almost
continuously from 1705 to 1735. He was also Queen's Attorney for Queen Anne, King's
Attorney for King George I S II, & Coronor for the the Potomac District.
