.. (2704) John 4 family arrived Boston Harbor Sunday evening, 16SEP1632, after a 12 week
voyage aboard the 'Lion' from Plymouth, England. His voyage to the New Vorld may have
been induced by the fact that his freind, Governor Vinthrop, had preceded him by two
years and that his wife had two brothers already in Massachusetts.

In 1634, he was appointed a constable in Cambridge by the General Court of
Massachusetts which made him the chief executive officer of the town & was a position of
prestige 4 honor.

In 1642, he owned the largest homestall in Vatertown MA & it was referred to by
Governor Vinthrop as "...unsurpassed in elegance 4 comfort by any in the vicinity..."

On 7APR1636, John's home was severely damaged by fire in Sewtowne with his extensive
library also damaged. On ITovember 7, 1634, he was excused from military training on
account of age and infirmity but was required to have at all times arms for himself and
servants.

In his will written on 12Jinri645, two days before death, he bequeathed to his wife: two
cows, forty bushels of corn, one part flower of all his household stuff 4 in an amendment
he provided that she would be able to gather firewood from his lands as long as she
lived. Son, John, received a double portion over his brothers & sisters who were to
divide his property equally with the provision that their mother was to occupy the house
and three adjoining acres as long as she lived.

John Sr.'s estate consisted of a house and meadow next to the mill, a lot, house 4 60
acres (homestall ) , 10 acres of meadow near Oyster Bank, 10 acres in Rocky Meadow, 8 acres
in Great Dividends, St 16 in Vatertown. The inventory was valued at 1297 which was a
great estate for those times. (See Bicha & Brown for Benjamin English Ancestry)
. . (2705) Abigail probably lived in Vatertown till 1654 when she removed to Charlestown to
live with daughter, Abigail Stubbs.

. . (2704-1) John Jr. was a blacksmith. In 1664, he removed to Hartford CT but quickly
returned to Vatertown.

. . (2704-3) Samuel had to appear before the Selectmen of Vatertown KA on 11DEC1656 to
prove his Industriousness who were concerned that he was too 'idle'. He won them to his
side 4 later moved to Connecticut where he died.

.. (2704-6) Joshua was a saddler by occupation. In 1676, during King Phillip's Var
against the Indians, Joshua served under Capt. Cutler in hauling supplies to outlying
garrisons. At one time on a trip back from Marlborough, he narrowly escaped when his
company was almost cut off. Their were no surviving offspring of his marriage.
. . (2704-7) Caleb died without a written will leaving an estate of over 240 acres & valued
at £153.4.0. His widow remarried a Valter Harris Sr. of Glastonbury CT.

(2704-8) Abel was a rope maker. At Charlestown MA, he was at various tines also:
overseer of the swine, tithingnan, town messenger, 4 bell ringer.
