there have been no such rate made in any electoral
division) the then last rate as to the same ; and
the said Clerks of unions shall answer upon oath
all such questions as such Assistant Barrister may
put to them, and produce all documents, papers,
and writings in their possession, custody, or i>o wer
touching any matter herein mentioned : Provided
always, that in case the attendance of any Clerk
of a union, or the production of any rate or rate
hook of any union, shall be reqtdred at different
CJourts at or about the same time, it shall be lawful
for the Clerk of such union, by writing under his
hand, to appoint a proper person to be his deputy
for the purpose of attending at any such Court, or
producing such rate or rate book, or a compared
copy thereof, or of part thereof, which deputy shall
be subject to like provisions as such Clerk of the
nnion ; and for the purposes of this Act a com-
pared copy of any such rate or rate book, or of any
part thereof, shall be primd foAe evidence ; but
when any question shall arise at any Court held
under this Act in relation to any such compared
copy it shall be lawful for the Assistant Barrister,
if he shall think fit, to require the production at
any such Court, or at some adjournment thereof,
of the original rate or rate book.

mons, shall, upon proof before him of the service
of such summons, be liable to pay by way of fine,
for every such offence, a sum of money not exceed-
ing five pounds nor less than twenty shillings, to
be imposed by and at the discretion of the said
Barrister holding any such Court as aforesaid,

of duty under or in the execution of this Act, shall
for every such offence be liable to pay by way of
fine a sum of money not exceeding &ve pounds nor
less than twenty shillings, to be imposed by and
at the discretion of the Assistant Barrister holding
any Court for the revision of any list of the barony
or division of a barony, or the city, town, or
borough, for which such oJ0[icer is required to act
as aforesaid : Provided always, that nothing herein
contained as to any £me as aforesaid shall affect or
abridge any right of action against any Clerk of a
union, or other person liable to any fine as afore-
said, or any liability, civil or criminal, which such
Clerk of a union, or other person may incur under
or by virtue of this Act.

73. And be it enacted, That the Guardians of Ouardianf of
the Poor of each union shall by an order make aulmMnuai

109. And be it enacted. That the respective Collector of

(not being Sunday), and during the three next
preceding days, exclusive of Sunday, or if the first
day of July be Sunday then during the four next
preceding days in each such year, for the purpose
of giving receipts for poor rate to any persons
requiring the same, and paying the amount of
poor rate then payable by them ; and the respec-
tive Collector of poor rate or a sufficient deputy
for him as aforesaid shall in like manner attend
at a place (of which he shall give public notice) in
every such city, town, or borough as aforesaid
within the union or part of the union of which he
is Collector, (as regards each year after one thou-
sand eight hundred and fifby-one) during the
first day of July (not being Sunday), and during
the three next preceding days, exclusive of Sunday,
or if the first day of JiUy be Sunday then during
the four next preceding days in each year for the
like purpose ; and if any such Collector of poor
rates shall not return to the Clerk of the respec-
tive union the names and descriptions of the per-
sons who shall have paid their poor rates, and a
statement of the sums respectively paid by them,
within the space of two days after the first day
of July in any year after one thousand eight him-
dred and fifty-one, or if any such Collector shall
neglect or refuse to give his assistance to the
Clerk of the respective union as by this Act re-
quired in or for the making out the return or list
of rated occupiers or the copy of the register in
any year for the purposes of this Act, or shall
wilfully and without reasonable cause give any
false information which may lead to the omission
of, or the entering of an objection to the name of
any person entitled to be inserted in such list, or
to the insertion of the name of any person not
entitled to be inserted therein, such Collector shall
be liable to a penalty not exceeding ten pounds,
to be recovered summarily before any Justice of
the Peace, and levied by distress.

110. And be it enacted. That it shall be lawM
for any person who shall occupy any lands, tene-
ments, or hereditaments rated under the Acts far
the more effectual relief of the destitute poor in

Ireland at a net annual value of twelve pounds ^^ * ^L^^^'
or upwards, in any electoral division m any county, Tahuauuh'

shall have been omitted from such rate, to present ^t ?^ *<*
to the Guardians of the union a claim to be rated
in respect of such premises, and such claim shall
be in writing, and signed with his name ; and
upon such occupier so claiming, and actually pay-
ing or tendering the full amount of the rate or
rates (if any) then due in respect of such pre-
mises**, the Guardians of the union shall insert
the nanae of such occupier in such rate in respect
of such premises as aforesaid ; and in case such
Guardians shall neglect or refuse so to do such
occupier shall, for the purposes of this Act, be
deemed to have been rated in respect of such pre-
mises in the rate in respect of which he shall have
claimed to be rated as aforesaid.

[§111 provides that no person shall be entitled
to be registered in any year who shall within
twelve calendar months next preceding the 20th
day of July in the current year, have received
relief under the Acts for the more effectual relief
of the destitute poor in Ireland.]

[The 116th section of the Act repealed the pro-
visions of the 1st section of 6 <k 7 Vic. c. 92, in
regard to the rating of immediate lessors in lieu
of the occupiers of premises in the electoral divi-
sions comprising the boroughs of Dublin, Cork,
Limerick, Belfast, and Waterford, the net annual
value of which did not exceed eight pounds, and
provided in lieu thereof, that in those electoral
divisions the rate should be made on the imme-
diate lessor in cases where the net annual value
was under eight pounds ; but by the 19th section
of " The Representation of the People (Ireland)

Act as regards all portions of the city compre-
hended within the municipal district of the said
city, and that the tender or pajrment of the poor's
rate by the said Act directed to be made, and the
notice of claim to be rated, in like manner directed
to be served upon the said Guardians, shall, in
respect of any property situated within the muni-
cipal district of the said city, in future be made to
and served upon the said Collector-General of
taxes, either in person or through the Clerk in the
public office of the said Collector-General, in

§ 1 . From and after the passing of this Act, when Duty of tfa*

visions of the said recited Act*, the Clerk of the
Peace for such county, when delivering or causing
to be delivered, next after such publication, the
precept or precepts which such Clerk of the Peace
is now required by law to deliver or cause to be
delivered to the Clerk of every poor law union
situate wholly or in part within his county, shall
at the same time, and together with the said pre-
cept or precepts, deliver or cause to be delivered
to the (Serk of every poor law union his addi-
tional precept, according to the form (numbered 1)
in the schedule (A) to this Act annexed, or to the
like effect, and also one or more copies of such
parts of the lists of registered voters then in force
for such county as shall relate to the barony or
baronies, half barony or half baronies within such
nnion^ firom or out of which a polling district or
polling districts have been constituted under the
said recited Act, and also such parts of the said
lists as shall relate to any barony or half barony
within such union any portion whereof shall have
been detached from any polling district, and an-
nexed to any other polling district, pursuant to

2. Such Clerk of the Peace shall, together witL

respectively may have been detached from any
polling district or polling districts, and annexed
to any other polling district or polling districts, as
declared, certified, and published as aforesaid ; and
thereupon such Clerk of the poor Jaw union, after
due inquiry, which he is requii-ed to make, with
the assistance of the respective Collector or Col-
lectors of poor rates for such respective barony or
baronies or divisions thereof out of which such
polling district or polling districts may be consti-
tuted, or from which any portion or portions
thereof have been detached or annexed as aforesaid,
shall and he is hereby required, in addition to
what he is now required by law to do, to write in
the margin opposite the name of each person on
tho copy list of registered voters the name of the
half barony, parish, townland, and parish, part of
jiarish and barony, respectively, or other division
out of which, in respect of lands, tenements, or
hereditaments therein, such person*s name is on
the list of registered voters, if such half barony,
parish, townland, part of parish, part of townland
and parish, or other division constitute such poll-
ing district or polling districts or any part thereof^
or form any portion of a polling district detached
from and annexed to any other polling district ;
and such Clerk of the poor law imion shall in like
manner, upon every supplemental list or suppJe-

register of voters, and supplemental list or supple-
mental lists, with all such marginal additions as
aforesaid, signed by such respective Clerk of the
union, shall be the copies and lists to be verified
for sach polling districts as aforestdd by such
Clerk of the union, and returned to the Clerk of
the Peace, and shall be so verified pursuant to the
provisions of an Act passed in the thirteenth and
fourteenth years of the reign of Her Majesty, in-
tituled An Act to rnnend the Laws which regulate
tiie Qualification a/nd Begistration of Parliamentary
Voters in Ireland^ and to alter the Law /or rating
Ifnmediate Lessors 0/ Premises to the Poor Rate in
certain Boroughsy and shall be returned to such
Clerk of the Peace within the time in that behaL
