Dublin, a suburb of Dublin (close to Gt. S. and
West. rail, terminus), where the co. election takes
place, has, on the site of St. Maignend's mo-
nastery (6th cent.), and the Templars' priory
found. 1174 by Strongbow, the military hospital
endowed 1679 byCh. II., and the sessions court
and gaol. Pop. 670, in Willans' woollen fac-
tory. The Queen visited (8 Aug. 1848) the hos-
pital, which was reb. by Wren (for 23,5597.), is a
quadrangle 306 ft. by 288, with a hall 100 ft. long,
and many portraits, a chapel (having the priory
E. window), infirmary, etc. ; the establishment,
consisting of a master (the commander of the
forces, whose head qrs. are here), deputy, trea-
surer, provedore, secretary, 4 captains, and others,
and 250 men. A large monumental stone is seen

stored was dismantled by Cromwell, and has
