What a showing Silent Brook has made when it is remembered what
limited opportunities he has had in the past, and what great things have
come of them. It will be remembered that up to 1902 Silent Brook only
served a very limited number of Standard lared mares, and since that
time no stallion has had a better class of mares visit his paddock than
he. Among the number are a few such as the dams of Wilteen (3) 2d
in the Horse Review Stake in 2:11%, Conroy 2:14, Free AdA'ice 2:10%
and Godfrey 2:24^^, Fred Kohl 2:07% and two others. Monopoly 2:22%
and Calyce 2:29%, Maid O Dreamwold 2:24% and Electro Belle 2:27%,
Lottery Ticket (sire of Mush 2:08%), Red Nutling 2:13, Beldia 2:09%,
Jimmie B. 2:30, Mary Steele 2:13, Mechanicsville 2:25%. B. G. 2:14, Mar-
garet Bathgate 2:11%, Golden Rule 2:16, and many others just as good.

So the success of Silent Brook is no longer in doubt, but is a certainty.
No stallion living or dead has ever produced so much speed out of all
kinds of mares. His colts are nice size, nice gaited and nice headed.

This is unquestionably the day of colt trotters. Youngsters with speed
will bring more money in the market than aged horses. The man who is
breeding for the market must breed for early and extreme speed, and if
he desires to breed with some surety of obtaining the kind that is in de-
mand — colt trotters — he cannot afford to overlook Silent Brook, for no
stallion is siring so much early and extreme speed as he. He was a great
colt trotter himself, perfect gaited, perfect headed and a perfect race
horse. Then why should he not be a great sire of the kind that he was
himself?
