Mrs. Brainerd Fuller read an able paper at the Women's
Congress at the Columbian Exposition on "Women as
Politicians." She has been president of the Woman's

Eepublicau club, and delivered an address that was admir-
able in concei^tion and charming in phrase.

Her Shakesperian readings have attracted large audiences
of women with a few men interpersed, who have derived
the keenest pleasure in listening to her. The press
notices are very eulogistic of her style of thought and
pleasing manner which wins her hearers, and commands
their attention.

She has been a constant contributor to the Buffalo papers,-
being a writer of grace and force and a public speaker
of particular charm.

She contributed an article on " The Eeal New Woman and
Education," to the " Womankind."

appointed for two years. He has been a member of tlie
Author's Club in N. Y., of the Union League, Pa., Trip-
lets, Young Eepublican, Clover, and other clubs in Phila-
delphia, of the Eainier Club and Chamber of Commerce in
Seattle, Knight Templar of the Priory of the Lothians,
Edinburgh, Scotland, and Knight of the order of St. John
of Jerusalem, and of the Red Cross of Rome and Constan-
tine; has been Vice-Chairman of the Eepublican City
Committee of Seattle, and ofEcer of many other political
clubs. He has written articles published in The Pall
Mall Gazette, London, The Critic, The American, Harpers
Magazine, Puck, and many other periodicals. In 1895 he
was living in Olympia, Washington. Additional articles
from his pen are, " Authors at Home," " A Sketch of Joel
Chandler Harris," both published by Cassell & Co., N. Y.,
and " Clover Leaves," published by the Clover Club,
Phila., Penn., contains a story by him.
He is a member of the Sons of the Revolution, being
greats-grandson of Josiah Brainerd, Jr., Ensign, twenty-
