a national money, agreeing in denominations with this money of
account, stamped upon paper, or some convenient and durable
material, having only an immaterial value, made a legal
equivalent for all property, by being made a legal tender for all
debts, or obligations, public and private ; its legal properties, or
attributes, being understood by the people, will secure its uniform
value, by the uses it performs It being a universal equivalent
for all property, yet divested of its commodity value, it wLU not
be obliged to fluctuate with the market value of commodities, or
of any one commodity, but will represent these changes in the
market with unerring certainty. In short, it will be the green-
back and our money of account perfected and perpetuated. It
will only cease when the government ceases, or when justice and
equity shall no longer be regarded by the government or nation.

than that relating to gold and silver. Their uniformity of value,
their supposed control over the market, in regulating prices, or
